About 15% of pregnant women in Nigeria are Rhesus-negative, and many of them don't even know what it is.
On the 26th of March 2026, members of YALI Network Oyo State conducted a Maternal Health Outreach on Rhesus Incompatibility Awareness at Agbowo Primary Health Centre, Ibadan.
The outreach began with a detailed explanation about blood group types and the importance of knowing their blood group. Then, we discussed rhesus compatibility and how it impacts their newborns.
The expectant mothers actively engaged during the session, asking questions and sharing their experiences. They were so excited about the new knowledge they acquired, and promised to utilise it going forward.
At the end of the session, we gave them an educative banner for ongoing sensitization and awareness. We also shared basic medications and handwashing equipment.
We believe that when a woman knows her status, her child gets a chance at life. With 30+ women knowing their statuses now, we are confident that hundreds of children will be preserved.
In YALI Network Oyo State, we lead through impactful actions by solving problems in our communities. This year, we are SCALE-ing our impact and influence, and we'll like you to join us.
Let's make the world a better place together.
