REVIEW MEETING WITH THE 2025 SURVEILLANCE TEAM IN ISEYIN LGA OF OYO STATE. SOUTHWEST NIGERIA.

On the 25th May 2026 Matan Arewa for Sustainable Development Initiative. Convened Review Meeting with members of the Surveillance Team from Ode- Oba, Ijemba, Ita-Epo/ Elegede, Oja'gbe/ Ifelajulo, & Isalu.
The 23 members of the Surveillance Team came to review, 2 of them were absent(one of them went to write an examination, while the other one was reported sick. They shared experiences, challenges & solutions proffered during the field work, and success stories as well.
All the representatives from each Community give feedback as regards the community field work.
Success stories like a case in Ode- Oba, at ILE KUSUARO and OJA'GBE Communities, in Elegede Community, where a girl of 9 years was was also prevented from cutting, because she was always putting hands in her va**na,as she had itching, and their believe was that she didn't do the cutting, that, that was the main reason, she has itching in her va**na. There was also a newly born girl, that, the parents wanted to go and cut her next day, but with the glory of God Almighty, one of our SURVEILLANCE came across and stopped them by telling them the effects of doing that. The parents were happy and agreed willingly not to cut her.

The communities are Kosovo/ Gas Yakubu, Oluwole/ Oke-Alafia, Iran/ Omojoda, Ladongan and Barracks Communities.

COMMUNITY ENTRY AND ADVOCACY VISIT TO FIVE COMMUNITIES IN ISEYIN LGA OF OYO STATE.SOUTHWEST NIGERIA.

Matan Arewa for Sustainable Development Initiative convened a One-Day Community Entry on 11th May 2026 to Koso/ Gan-Yakubu,Oke-Alafia/ Oluwole,Ladogan,Itan/Omojoda and Barracks Communities in
Iseyin LGA, Oyo State, South-West Nigeria.

The programme focused on intensified advocacy towards the abandonment of Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM) and the promotion of community-wide protection of girls and women.
We extend our profound appreciation to the traditional leaders, community stakeholders, and participants for their commitment to this crucial cause. Many of the participants are already aware of the abandonment. It seems they are ready to change.
