Technology is changing how we teach, learn, communicate, and access knowledge. Yet teachers and students are not benefiting from this transformation equally.
According to UNESCO, only 54% of countries have established specific criteria for digital skills for learners. This means there is still significant work to do to ensure that learners are prepared for a digital world—and teachers need the confidence and capacity to guide them.
For many teachers, the challenge is not a lack of willingness. It is the lack of practical digital skills, access to devices, and opportunities to continue learning and applying technology in their classrooms.
For learners with disabilities, accessibility and communication can create additional barriers to digital learning.
This is the gap we want to help bridge.
We are excited to announce that 48percent.org. is supporting Zee Tech Foundation to implement DIGI-TEACH Empowering Teachers. · Transforming Communities.
For this first cohort, we will work with:
50 teachers strengthening their digital literacy, online safety, digital teaching and learning skills, and responsible use of artificial intelligence.
50 learners with disabilities, particularly deaf learners—providing accessible, sign-language-supported digital literacy, online safety, digital learning, and introductory AI training.
Teachers will be supported with digital devices that will enable them to continue learning, practise their skills, develop digital teaching resources, and, importantly, use technology as a tool to teach and support their students in their classrooms.
The teachers will also be prepared to take the Google Certified Educator Level 1 examination, strengthening their professional digital teaching capacity.
But our vision goes beyond these 100 direct participants.
We envision DIGI-TEACH as a continuous journey of teacher development—one where we continue to build , upgrade teachers' skills, introduce emerging technologies, set measurable targets, and expand the number of educators and learners we can reach over time.
Our goal is not simply to train people for today.
Our goal is to build educators who can continue creating digital learning opportunities for others tomorrow.
We are deeply grateful to 48percent.org. for supporting and believing in our vision for more inclusive digital education.
