GANVI-WAYEI PARTICIPATES IN THE 2026 WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK FLAG-OFF CEREMONY
Strengthening Partnerships for Better Maternal and Child Health
On Tuesday, 4th August 2026, GANVI Women and Youth Empowerment Initiative (GANVI-WAYEI) proudly participated in the Bauchi State 2026 World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) Flag-off Ceremony, organized by the Bauchi State Ministry of Health & Social Welfare through the state Bauchi State Primary Health Care Board (BSPHCB) in collaboration with UNICEF, Helen Keller International, FHI 360, and other development partners.
The event commenced with a road show from the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Board Headquarters to the Urban Maternity Primary Health Care Centre, Kofar Ran, Bauchi, creating awareness on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding and optimal infant and young child feeding practices.

The official flag-off was performed by Her Excellency, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed, First Lady and Wife of the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, who reaffirmed the government's commitment to improving maternal, newborn, and child health through strengthened nutrition interventions and strategic partnerships.

The commemoration brought together government agencies, development partners, civil society organizations, healthcare professionals, community leaders, and advocates to reinforce the shared responsibility of protecting, promoting, and supporting breastfeeding as a foundation for healthier families and communities.

As an organization committed to improving the well-being of women, girls, and young people, GANVI-WAYEI was honoured to join other stakeholders in advocating for evidence-based maternal and child nutrition practices. The event aligns with our mission of advancing sexual and reproductive health, maternal health, community health education, and sustainable development across Bauchi State.

We believe that investing in breastfeeding is an investment in healthier children, healthier mothers, stronger families, and more resilient communities.
GANVI-WAYEI remains committed to collaborating with government and development partners to expand access to quality health information and services while empowering communities through education, advocacy, and strategic partnerships.

GANVI-WAYEI at the Bauchi State GBV Technical Working Group Quarterly Meeting
GANVI Women and Youth Empowerment Initiative (GANVI-WAYEI) participated in the Quarterly Technical Working Group (TWG) Meeting on Gender-Based Violence (GBV), convened by the Bauchi State Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development.
The meeting brought together government institutions, development partners, civil society organizations, and other key stakeholders to strengthen collaboration towards preventing and responding to Gender-Based Violence across Bauchi State.

Discussions focused on improving GBV coordination, promoting survivor-centred approaches, strengthening data-driven programming, enhancing inter-agency collaboration, and building sustainable systems for prevention, response, and accountability. Participants also emphasized the importance of innovation, continuous capacity building, evidence-based programming, and stronger partnerships in advancing protection services for women, girls, and other vulnerable groups.

As an organization committed to promoting the rights, dignity, and wellbeing of women and young people, GANVI-WAYEI remains dedicated to contributing to coordinated efforts that create safer communities and expand access to quality support services.

We appreciate the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development, development partners, and all stakeholders for providing a platform that encourages learning, collaboration, and collective action towards ending Gender-Based Violence.
