Malta Police Union

Malta Police Union The Malta Police Union is a registered trade union dedicated to promote the wellbeing of police officers and enhance their working conditions.

It is open to all police officers and employees of the Malta Police Force. The Union believes that generally all contested issues are to be resolved around a table. This method has yielded various gains its members. However, when the situation requires otherwise, the MPU won’t hold back to take the necessary measure be it legal or administrative. A clear example of this is the Court action brought

by the MPU against the relevant authorities in 2015 for excluding members of the Force from participating in a public auction of fi****ms, vehicles, etc. The Malta Police Union Protects and Defends the rights of its members. Such rights emanate from Employment and Industrial legislation, Collective and Sectoral Agreements together with applicable government policies. It is not within the remit of the Union to represent its members in criminal investigations/cases which are or may be brought before the Courts of Justice, except when the member is the direct victim.

The Union expressed its appreciation to Hon. Byron Camilleri for his continued availability to meet, listen, and consult with the union on matters concerning police officers.

The Union also took this opportunity to highlight the importance of officers being covered by health insurance and benefiting from priority access to public healthcare, in recognition of the risks and responsibilities associated with policing.
