International Day of Peace
Theme: "Reflecting on 23 Years of Peace: Youth as Peacebuilders, not Bystanders" 🇱🇷

Today, LDYA had the opportunity to bring two teams of Deaf Youth to join the Federation of Liberian Youth and stakeholders from the Peace and Security sector at the National Youth Dialogue Program.

We gathered to commemorate 23 years of peace since the end of the Liberian civil war.
For more than two decades, Liberia has shown the West African region and the world that peace, when carefully nurtured, can endure.

Peace is not simply the absence of war.
Peace is the presence of opportunities, justice, equality, and bodily autonomy.

LDYA President David G Doe addressed the program and said:

Today marks 23 years of peace in Liberia. For many of us Deaf youth, this is the only Liberia we have known. But we know peace is fragile, and it must be protected by all of us.

Deaf youth also want peace. But sometimes we face challenges:

Communication gap with security officers during checkpoints or arrest

Lack of information about peace programs because there is no sign language interpreter

Feeling left out in national dialogue and decision making

We are grateful that FLY is creating the National Youth Security Advisory Council.
LDYA respectfully asks to have 1 Deaf youth representative on that Council, so our voice can be heard and tensions can be prevented before they start.

We inherited this peace. As Deaf youth, we promise to protect it, promote dialogue, and work with Joint Security.
No Deaf youth should be left behind in building peace.

LDYA believes that every young person’s potential must be fulfilled. Peace cannot thrive in an environment where young people face systemic vulnerabilities. That is why we must harness the power of working together to empower all young people to realize their full potential.

LDYA WAS IN THE ROOM AND OUR VOICE WAS HEARD - today august 12 2026,

Today, David G. Doe, President of Liberia Deaf Youth Association - LDYA, joined the National Youth Government Dialogue organized by FLY Federation of Liberian Youth at Monrovia City Hall for International Youth Day.

I sat with government officials and youth leaders from across Liberia.
I asked questions and spoke up for Deaf youth jobs, education, and inclusion.

FLY President Ernest Duku Jallah said it clear
"Not another communiqué. Not another photo. We need real commitments with names and dates."

The challenges are real
-: Unemployment for graduates
-: No access to jobs and education for Persons With Disabilities
-: No trust between youth and government

From LDYA Deaf youth are not "leaders of tomorrow". We are leaders TODAY and we are already at the table.
Government must include Deaf youth in every plan, budget, and program across all 15 counties.

MESSAGE TO THE ROOM
Mr. President, Government officials, and fellow young people.

I am from LDYA - Liberia Deaf Youth Association

First, thank you for creating this space for young people and government to sit together and talk.

I am here today to say Deaf young people also have a lot to say. But too often, we are not in the room.

On behalf of Deaf youth in Liberia, I am asking for 3 things

INCLUDE US
Include Deaf youth in all youth programs, jobs, and decisions that shape our future.

GIVE US ACCESS
Provide sign language interpreters at government meetings, workshops, and on TV/radio so we can understand and participate.

CREATE OPPORTUNITIES
Give Deaf youth skills training and job opportunities so we can also help build our country.

Young people should not only complain about problems. We want to sit with stakeholders and work with government to find solutions.

Please do not leave the Deaf out. Thank you.

Thank you FLY for inviting all national youth.
Thank you Liberia for seeing us.
Now we wait for action.

Happy 178th Independence Day, Liberia🇱🇷

Today, July 26, 2026, the Liberia Deaf Youth Association - LDYA proudly joins all Liberians in celebrating our freedom.

We celebrate the brave men and women who fought for Liberia to be the first independent nation in Africa. Their courage gave us a voice, and today we use that voice to say: Deaf Youth Matter

LDYA is committed to building a Liberia where every Deaf youth is included, educated, empowered, and given the opportunity to lead. Independence means freedom for all - freedom to learn, freedom to work, freedom to sign, and freedom to dream.

To our Deaf brothers and sisters in Montserrado, Nimba, Lofa, Grand Bassa, and all 15 counties: Today is yours. Stand tall. Your language, your culture, and your contributions make Liberia stronger.

As we wave the Lone Star today, let us remember:
One Nation. One People. One Sign. One Liberia.

ADVOCACY FOR DEAF YOUTH ACCESS
LDYA PRESIDENT ATTENDS FLY’S NATIONAL YOUTH DIALOGUE 🇱🇷

Yesterday, the President of the Liberian Deaf Youth Association - LDYA attended the National Youth Constitutional Dialogue organized by FLY - Federation of Liberian Youth
We commend FLY, the Governance Commission, and the Law Reform Commission for starting nationwide consultations.

We believe the Constitution must protect Deaf Youth and guarantee our participation in national decision-making.

OUR EXPERIENCE:
The LDYA President invited a sign language interpreter to the program. The interpreter promised to come, but was not able to serve. Because of this, our President was disappointed and had to leave for his meeting at the University of Liberia.

OUR APPEAL:
We respectfully call on all sign language interpreters in Liberia to be willing to serve the Deaf community.
When LDYA or any Deaf organization has a program, workshop, or meeting with government or partners, we need interpreters who are committed to show up.

Congratulations to Bro and the entire FLY Team 👏
LDYA is ready to work with you in all 15 counties.
Let’s build a Constitution that works for ALL Liberians.

LDYA Joins FLY Inauguration Program at Monrovia City Hall
Tida Friday, June 26, 2026

Today, the Liberia Deaf Youth Association LDYA joined the Federation of Liberian Youth FLY Inauguration Program held at Monrovia City Hall on June 26, 2026. Our President, David G Doe represented LDYA at the event.

FLY, under the leadership of President Ernest Duku Jallah, invited LDYA to participate and support youth leadership in Liberia. It was a great program. President David G. Doe met many youth leaders from different organizations across the country. We discussed unity, inclusion, and the role of Deaf youth in national development.

CONGRATULATIONS TO FLY
LDYA warmly congratulates the Federation of Liberian Youth on the successful inauguration of its new leadership. This marks a new chapter for Liberia’s youth movement. We have full confidence that President Ernest Duku Jallah and the incoming executives will lead with integrity, vision, and commitment to all young Liberians.

FLY STATEMENT
The Federation of Liberian Youth FLY acknowledges and welcomes the ruling of the Civil Law Court, which has now definitively resolved the leadership matter after eight months of legal proceedings. The ruling reaffirms the legitimacy of the leadership elected by the youth constituency of Liberia, with Mr. Duku Jallah continuing as President.

President Jallah has initiated outreach to former opponents and stakeholders in the spirit of reconciliation and unity. As FLY enters a new chapter, priorities include restoring institutional credibility, rebuilding trust, addressing youth unemployment, confronting the drug crisis, and expanding access to opportunities for youth empowerment.

LDYA appreciates President Ernest Duku Jallah and FLY for the invitation and for recognizing Deaf youth. We will continue to work with youth leaders to make sure no one is left behind, especially persons with disabilities.

Proud of our Liberia U23 Deaf National Team 🇱🇷

Yes, the results in Serbia were tough. But let’s not forget
this was the first time our U23 Deaf boys flew out to represent Liberia on the international stage. They carried our flag with courage, and that alone deserves respect.

As someone involved in this journey, I believe we can do better next time. Moving forward, we’ll work to select the best players from clubs across Liberia Bushrod Island, Gardnersville, Paynesville, Sinkor, Central Monrovia, Margibi, Nimba, Bomi, Grand Bassa, Maryland, and beyond. With the right selection and preparation, our team will be one to beat.

Let’s keep praying for them and congratulate them for making Liberia visible in the deaf football world. This is just the beginning 🙏

Proud Moment for Liberia,🇱🇷

Our Liberia Deaf U-23 team has made history by flying to Europe for the first time to play in the 2026 Serbia U23 Deaf Football Tournament.

This trip is bigger than football. It’s about our boys experiencing new places, representing Liberia with pride, and showing the world what Liberia Deaf can do.

Friday was tough, we lost 6-0 to Great Britain in our opening match.
But Sunday is a new chance. 10:00 GMT, our U-23 team is back on the field.
