🇱🇷 Our team in has just handed over facilities to in settlements, through the Community Upgrading Fund.

The funds basic infrastructure projects that are selected and managed by the residents themselves.

Under the initiative, over the last two years, a number of facilities were built including 104 water kiosks, 6 toilets and shower facilities, 3 school compounds, as well as fence walls around two community sports fields and a school. 100 water points and 4 water storage towers were also rehabilitated. The sanitation facilities are equipped with bio-filtration systems.

This week, the Monrovia City Corporation launched a four-day community engagement forum under the theme: "Creating an Enabling Environment for Green, Safe, and Sustainable Solid " for all. The forum is supported by Cities Alliance and the European Union in Liberia.

Representing the delegation, Ambassador Laurent Delahousse called for stakeholders to address the dire waste management situation in the city.

Development partners in attendance included WaterAid Liberia, the National Community Based Enterprises Association NACOBE, Environment Protection Agency - EPA, Ministry of Internal Affairs-Republic of Liberia MIA, township commissioners and community leaders from Monrovia.

The two-fold objective of the forum is to review and update Ordinance 7, the solid waste mandate vested in the Monrovia City Corporation by law, and to validate the Solid Waste Management Guidelines.
