Promoting Truth, Justice, and Reconciliation in Bomi County.

The PeaceGen Project successfully concluded its transitional justice community dialogues and mobile outreach exhibition in Bomi County, raising awareness of Liberia’s transitional justice processes and their importance in building lasting peace.

Through interactive dialogues, historical timelines, photographs, and educational materials, women, youth, community leaders, survivors, civil society organizations, and local LNP engaged in meaningful discussions on truth, justice, reconciliation, and preventing future conflict.

Together, we are strengthening inclusive participation and empowering women and youth to play active roles in Liberia’s journey toward sustainable peace.

The PeaceGen Project is funded by the European Union in Liberia, co-funded by the Embassy of Ireland, and implemented by Kvinna till Kvinna and its local partners.

Alliance for Peace, Justice and Human Rights , from Youth Action Lab to a Growing Legacy

The Alliance for Peace, Justice and Human Rights (APJHR) is proud to be a legacy of the CIVICUS Youth Action Lab program. Today, we were fully represented at the meet-and-greet in Manhattan, and for us, it felt like coming home and meeting our parents again. ❤️

We are incredibly excited to reflect on how far we have grown since 2019. What started as a vision and a young organization has evolved into a growing platform for peace, justice, human rights, youth and women’s empowerment in Liberia!

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation for believing in us, investing in our founder, Ms. Abigal BL Freeman, through training and mentorship, and providing APJHR with its first startup grant.

Your belief helped plant the seed. Today, we are grateful to see the tree growing.

On the margins of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, the Alliance for Peace, Justice and Human Rights (APJHR) was represented by its Executive Director, Theodoulos Q. Freeman through Liberia coalition on Youth peace and Security as part of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Liberia’s delegation to Liberia’s high-level side event on Youth, Peace and Security.
Held at the African Union building in New York and co-organized with UNFPA Liberia, UNDP Liberia, and the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator. The event brought together Liberian stakeholders, international partners, YPS practitioners and policymakers to reflect on Liberia’s youth, peace and security agenda.
As a member of the Liberia Coalition on Youth, Peace and Security, we are contributed to a growing movement of young Liberians who are not only calling for change, but are actively shaping Liberia’s YPS agenda and contributing to the implementation and monitoring of the National Action Plan on Youth, Peace and Security.

For APJHR, this representation was an opportunity to bring grassroots perspectives into a global conversation, share Liberia’s experiences, build meaningful connections with YPS practitioners and partners, and amplify the realities and aspirations of young people in our communities.
The conversation in New York reinforced a simple truth: young people must not only be heard; they must be trusted, resourced and meaningfully included in shaping the decisions that affect their future.
We are proud of our Executive Director’s representation and grateful to the Ministry of Youth and Sports and minister Kruah for creating space for Liberian youth voices on this global platform.

Congratulations to our Executive Director Ms Joyce Freeman! She will represent the APJHR in New York at the Youth, Peace and Security Forum. Thanks to The Ministry of Youth and Sports, Liberia for giving APJHR and Liberian Youth the opportunity to participate and share their experiences on Peace on a global level.

We are thrilled to introduce the Ministry of Youth and Sports official delegation to the United Nations General Assembly, where we will host a high-level side event.

In addition to the Ministry’s officials, ten young Liberians, representing government, civil society, entrepreneurship, the arts, peacebuilding, and advocacy- will carry Liberia's voice and vision to New York.

APJHR, as one of the implementing partners of the PeaceGen (Generation for Peace) Project, supported the Montserrado Memory and Reconciliation Session, hosted by WONGOSOL in partnership with the Office for the Establishment of the War and Economic Crimes Court and LIMASA.
The session provided an important space to reflect on Liberia’s shared history, acknowledge the wounds of the past, share experiences and perspectives, and promote healing, understanding, and reconciliation toward a stronger and more unified Liberia.
As part of the session, APJHR’s Executive Director delivered a powerful spoken-word poem titled “Let It End in Peace,” emphasizing that forgiveness and justice must go hand in hand in the journey toward meaningful reconciliation.
Through the poem, he also called on our generation to become ambassadors of peace, to protect and sustain the peace that our mothers fought and sacrificed for, the peace they endured hardship and even slept in open fields to defend.
