*The Journey of Sachets: Small Packs, Big Problem*

We use sachets daily in the form of shampoo, coffee, sugar, and snacks, but have you ever wondered where they end up after thier disposal? These small packets accumulate in landfills, rivers, and oceans, causing significant environmental harm.

*What are Sachets?*
Sachets are small, single-use packets used to store liquids, powders, or personal care products that cannot be recycled or reused.

*Examples:*
- Shampoo and conditioner sachets
- Coffee, sugar, and spice sachets
- Snack packets

*The Problem:*
Most sachets end up in landfills, taking many-a-century to decompose. It is therefore incinerated, releasing toxic gases.

*What You Can Do:*
1. Choose refillable or bulk options and not single use ones.
2. Opt for eco-friendly packaging.
3. Segregate waste properly.
4. Raise awareness about the issue.

*Why It Matters:*
Sachets contribute to:
- Pollution in soil, rivers, and oceans
- Harm to wildlife and ecosystems
- The growing plastic waste problem

This Onam in Kerala’s capital, Thiruvananthapuram, the residents of Journalist Colony are celebrating with a powerful twist: preparing their grand feast beside their community composting unit.

A decade ago, such a celebration would have been unlikely—waste facilities were often met with doubt and stigma. But today, this unit processes 50 kg of organic waste daily from 50 households and has done so successfully for 10 years.

By placing their feast next to it, residents boldly declare: “My waste is my responsibility.”

This isn’t just a celebration; it’s living proof that Zero Waste is possible—and already happening.

At Green Army International, our commitment to building a drug-free, safe, and empowered generation continues through WINGS – We Initiate New Generations for Safety.

Launched in partnership with Vattiyoorkavu Youth Brigade (VYBe) and with the active support of Adv. V. K. Prasanth MLA, Wings of Vattiyoorkavu is growing as a powerful community-driven campaign to stand against:

🔴 Drug abuse
⚠️ Violence
🛑 Child exploitation
🌱 Environmental degradation

With the support of Indus Cycling Embassy, we’re cycling through communities and schools — spreading awareness, encouraging sustainability, and engaging young minds through puppet shows, flash mobs, street performances, and interactive sessions.

🚴‍♀️🌟 JUNIOR BICYCLE MAYOR SELECTION BEGINS 🌟🚴‍♂️

During the Wings of Vattiyoorkavu campaign — a grassroots initiative promoting awareness against drug abuse, violence, child exploitation, and environmental degradation — the selection process for the Fourth Junior Bicycle Mayor of Trivandrum was officially launched by MLA Adv. V.K. Prasanth (VKP).

This campaign, led by Green Army International in collaboration with VYBe (Vattiyoorkavu Youth Brigade) and Indus Cycling Embassy, has reached schools and communities with powerful messages of safety, sustainability, and youth empowerment — all while promoting cycling as a clean, accessible, and empowering mode of transport.

🗓️ Selection Duration: One month
📣 Final Declaration: 12th August – International Youth Day

🔎 The selection will be coordinated by the Bicycle Mayor of Trivandrum, with the support of
Indus Cycling Embassy, SheCycling, and BYCS India.

The Junior Bicycle Mayor will:
✔ Act as a youth ambassador for cycling and sustainability
✔ Represent Trivandrum in national cycling initiatives

WINGS stands for: We Initiate New Generations for Safety

It is an ongoing initiative by Green Army International aimed at empowering the next generation to rise against:
• 🛑 Drug abuse
• 🚫 Violence
• 🧒 Child exploitation
• 🌱 Environmental degradation

Through creative school-based campaigns, community outreach, and youth engagement, WINGS works closely with students, teachers, and families to build awareness, promote safety, and inspire change.
This is not a one-time event — it’s a movement that continues beyond June 26.

🌱💚 Wings of Vattiyoorkavu 💚🌱
As part of this larger vision, we launched Wings of Vattiyoorkavu — the local chapter of WINGS — in partnership with VYBe (Vattiyoorkavu Youth Brigade).

With the steadfast support of Adv. V. K. Prasanth MLA, this chapter has become a growing force in the ongoing fight against drug abuse and other social issues.

From cycling rallies in association with Indus Cycling Embassy -ICE and puppet shows to school visits and flash mobs, Wings of Vattiyoorkavu is reaching young minds and entire communities with powerful messages of awareness and resilience.
