Building Gender Equitable Communities since 2009 Substantive equality for women can only be achieved through equal opportunities, access and outcomes.

Centre for Equity and Inclusion (CEQUIN) is committed to working towards the realization of equality as enshrined in the constitution of India. CEQUIN believes that substantive equality, looking beyond ‘formal’ equality, can only be achieved through equity and inclusion. Several categories of citizens are denied equality in opportunities, access and results of development, due to their historical exclusion. It is manifestly clear that lop-sided development, which leaves out large sections of the population, cannot be sustainable. Human capital needs to be harnessed and nurtured, and for this, it is imperative to evolve a society and polity which consciously promotes equity and inclusion. The Centre for Equity and Inclusion is actively involved with the promotion of women’s right to non-discrimination and equality. Women have the right to lead a violence free life, develop their capabilities, have ownership and control of resources and participate in decision making. And for this to be realized, a facilitating environment must be created. The process of creating a gender sensitive environment, involves taking into account the specific concerns of women and men. The prevalent patriarchal world view that dominates has to be deconstructed. This involves education and sensitization along with proactive governance to create a conducive climate for women to live with dignity and reach their full potential, thereby contributing to the nation’s prosperity.

🏆 From Guwalda to District Champions! ⚽

The CEQUIN U-14 Girls Football Team from Mewat Vikas Public School, Guwalda has done it!

After two convincing wins, the girls held their nerve through a fiercely contested 0–0 final, taking the match to penalties, and sealing the championship with a 4–1 victory in the shootout 🔥

They came to compete. They fought till the final whistle. And they left as District Champions!!

Now, the girls take this victory to the State Level Competition in Jodhpur, where they will represent their district!

From the football ground in Guwalda to the state stage, this is a milestone worth celebrating. 💙⚽

We often assume that if we build better transport systems, women’s mobility will follow. But infrastructure alone does not determine who gets to move, where, and with what freedom.

Buses run. Metro lines expand. Safer corridors are built. Yet women and girls, especially in low-income and conservative communities, continue to face social and gendered barriers to moving freely through public space.

Our article, “Constructing Demand: A Practitioner’s Perspective on Social Norms as Critical Transport Infrastructure,” explores this missing piece: how confidence, capability and aspiration shape women’s ability to claim mobility.

Authored by Lora Krishnamurthi Prabhu, Co-Founder & Managing Director, CEQUIN, and Swapnil Pareek, Assistant Programme Manager, CEQUIN, the article is published in "A Roadmap for Equity: Policy and Practice for Advancing Women’s Mobility in Asia", by Women on the Move Network for which Safetipin serves as the official secretariat.

Drawing on 17 years of learning from CEQUIN’s Kickstart Equality programme across Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan, the article makes one clear argument:

Transport policy must invest not only in infrastructure, but also in the social conditions that make mobility possible.

⚽ Guwalda took to the field this National Sports Day!

On 30 August, 62 girls across four teams came together for a friendly football match, showcasing their skills, teamwork, confidence and sporting spirit.

🌟 Komal stole the show, scoring four goals and earning the Player of the Match title!

With enthusiastic support from the community and guidance from Coaches Sajia and Daya Thakur, the match became more than a game, it was a space for girls to play, lead, compete and claim their space in sport.

Because every girl deserves the freedom to play! ⚽💙

On 25 August 2026, Nari Ki Chaupal brought women together in Guwalda, Rajasthan for an open conversation on women’s health. From sharing concerns identified through the Gender Audit to learning about healthcare services and discussing collective solutions, the session created space for women to speak, learn and take action together. 💜

What does it take to fund change that lasts?

We joined a rich conversation on financing gender and youth empowerment, exploring a question that often gets overlooked: are our funding models designed for the kind of long-term, systemic change we want to see?

From the need for more flexible and patient capital to the importance of bringing funders, organisations and movements together, the discussion highlighted that investing in change is not just about how much we fund, but how we fund it, and who gets to shape the priorities.

A meaningful conversation on moving from short-term solutions to building the conditions for lasting change!

We were happy to partner with Stree Shakti Foundation, led by its Founder, Ms. Rekha Mody, for the Women Leaders’ Conclave 2026, a two-day platform that brought together women leaders, grassroots changemakers, policymakers, academics and civil society voices from across the country.

One of the most inspiring aspects of the conclave was seeing 35 Panchayat leaders from across India take centre stage, bringing their lived experiences of grassroots governance into conversations alongside national policymakers, institutional leaders and experts.

Our Managing Director & Co-Founder, Ms. Lora Prabhu, was a panellist on “Innovations for Inclusive Convergence,” alongside Dr. Shabnam Ara, where the conversation explored collaborative models for strengthening grassroots governance and inclusion l.

Among the other insightful panels was “Reimagining Livelihood,” featuring Ms. Kanta Singh, Dr. Shabnam Ara, Dr. Ruppal Sharma, Prof. Avnish Bhatt and Ms. Nirja Bhatnagar, which brought valuable perspectives on women’s economic empowerment and opportunities for greater participation.

The conclave also featured an engaging session at Open Planery with Dr. Rashmi Singh, adding another perspective to the diverse conversations around women’s leadership and participation.

We’re grateful to have been part of these conversations and to continue building partnerships that turn dialogue into action

This Independence Day, our Mardon Wali Baat boys celebrated Azaadi as more than just a date, they celebrated it as a responsibility ✨ 🕊️

Boys from Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi came together for “Mera Samvidhan, Mera Vaada” (My Constitution, My Promise) to explore what the Preamble means in their everyday lives.

Through interactive discussions, they unpacked what it means to be Socialist, Secular and Democratic - sharing resources and opportunities, respecting every identity and faith, and listening to every voice, at home and beyond.

Because real masculinity isn’t about power. It’s about choosing Equality, Fraternity and Justice, standing against gender-based violence, respecting every identity, and keeping the promise of equality alive in our communities.

These boys aren’t just reading the Preamble. They’re unlearning old ideas of power and reimagining manhood through equality, empathy and respect
