CEQUIN

CEQUIN Building Gender Equitable Communities since 2009 Substantive equality for women can only be achieved through equal opportunities, access and outcomes.

Centre for Equity and Inclusion (CEQUIN) is committed to working towards the realization of equality as enshrined in the constitution of India. CEQUIN believes that substantive equality, looking beyond ‘formal’ equality, can only be achieved through equity and inclusion. Several categories of citizens are denied equality in opportunities, access and results of development, due to their historical

exclusion. It is manifestly clear that lop-sided development, which leaves out large sections of the population, cannot be sustainable. Human capital needs to be harnessed and nurtured, and for this, it is imperative to evolve a society and polity which consciously promotes equity and inclusion. The Centre for Equity and Inclusion is actively involved with the promotion of women’s right to non-discrimination and equality. Women have the right to lead a violence free life, develop their capabilities, have ownership and control of resources and participate in decision making. And for this to be realized, a facilitating environment must be created. The process of creating a gender sensitive environment, involves taking into account the specific concerns of women and men. The prevalent patriarchal world view that dominates has to be deconstructed. This involves education and sensitization along with proactive governance to create a conducive climate for women to live with dignity and reach their full potential, thereby contributing to the nation’s prosperity.

“Football makes me feel free.” ⚽
“It teaches us teamwork.”

When we asked girls from our Kickstart Equality Programme what football means to them, their answers were not only empowering, but also deeply honest, hopeful, and full of confidence.

For many of them, football is more than just a sport. It’s a space to grow, take up space loudly, build friendships, and challenge the idea that playgrounds belong more to boys than girls.

This World Football Day, we celebrate every girl who runs onto the field with courage, joy, and determination, breaking stereotypes one kick at a time 💜⚽

What does “fair play” really mean?

Because for many girls, the game has never started on equal ground.
From being told certain sports aren’t “for them,” to navigating restrictions around mobility, safety, confidence, and access, the idea of fair play goes far beyond the field.

Through our Kickstart Equality programme, we’ve seen how sports can become more than just a game. A football ground becomes a space where girls build confidence, form friendships, make decisions, speak up, and take up space unapologetically.

This World Fair Play Day, we celebrate not just participation, but the power of creating spaces where girls are encouraged to lead, play, and grow without limitations. Because fair play is not only about equal rules, it’s about equal opportunities, equal support, and equal belief in every child’s potential. ⚽✨

On this International Day of Families, we celebrate the foundation of our communities. But for a family to thrive, the village around it must be strong, inclusive, and equitable.

We are spotlighting the incredible work of our Rajasthan cohort, that works tirelessly at the grassroots level to redefine what community support looks like. Through a powerful blend of community engagement, women’s empowerment, and sports for development, CEQUIN's work is changing the game, literally.

How do we bring change in the grassroots:
Empowering Women: When we invest in the women in the society, we invest in the entire household’s health, education, and economic stability.

Sports for Development: By getting girls onto the field, our Kickstart Equality model is teaching leadership, resilience, and body autonomy. It’s not just a game; it’s a tool to dismantle gender stereotypes from a young age.

Uniting Communities: True progress happens when we move together. These initiatives foster a sense of belonging and shared responsibility, creating a social fabric that supports every member.

The Vision: A gender-equitable society isn't just a dream, it’s a byproduct of intentional, local action. By breaking down barriers for girls and women, we aren't just helping individuals; we are building a more united and resilient global family.

Let’s support the champions working on the front lines to ensure every family, regardless of gender or geography, has the opportunity to win. 🏆✨
