Hillel Tel Aviv welcomed mixed-media artist Moshe Shema for a freedom-themed collage workshop! Freedom, one of the central themes of the Torah, took on a new meaning as students explored what it means to them. Through color and texture, big ideas turned into beautiful, personal works of art.

Shema, based in Jerusalem, has led workshops at Hillels abroad, but this was his first time at Hillel Israel. Thank you, Moshe, for bringing your creativity to Hillel Tel Aviv!

Hillel Tel-Hai hosted an end-of-year celebration, “Time for Love”, in the spirit of Tu B’Av (Israel’s version of Valentine’s Day)! The event featured the teaching and singing of Hillel Tel-Hai Director Talia Vaknin, alongside renowned musicians George Semaan and Yair Dalal. Semaan, an Arab Christian musician and artist from Jish in the Upper Galilee region, and Dalal, an acclaimed Israeli musician, came together on oud, violin, and saz, singing in both Hebrew and Arabic in a moving musical collaboration.

The evening also included an exhibit featuring texts from thinkers, poets, and religious leaders, inspiring meaningful discussions on love, unity and community resilience through the lens of Jewish identity and tradition.

Through performances like these, Hillel Tel-Hai’s goal is to connect students with the local Galilee community and strengthen those bonds through cultural events that reflect our core values of coexistence, connection, and peace.

With thanks to the Glazer Foundation and our wonderful partners at Tel-Hai University.

For the past three years, “Marot” (mirrors), a joint program of Hillel Jerusalem and the Shalom Hartman Institute’s Center for Shared Society, has brought Jewish, Christian, and Muslim students together to learn about one another’s traditions, engage in meaningful dialogue, and build genuine relationships.

Through honest conversations and shared experiences, participants challenge assumptions, deepen their understanding of one another, and discover common values. As one student beautifully shared after a session, “I felt like the name of the program, “mirrors”; when I look at the other person, I see myself.”

That reflection captures the essence of Marot - creating a space where empathy replaces division, understanding grows through dialogue, and students discover that seeing one another more clearly begins with recognizing our shared humanity.

Special thanks to the Shalom Hartman Institute’s Center for Shared Society and the Hillel International Bridge Building Service Fellowship for their support of this program.

Hillel Ben Gurion’s IMPACT program, created in partnership with SparkIL, took students on a six-session journey exploring social entrepreneurship, impact investing, and the powerful connection between Israel and Jewish communities around the world.

Throughout the program, students explored social lending and philanthropy through the lens of Jewish values such as “Kol Yisrael Arevim Ze Baze” (mutual responsibility) and “Tikkun Olam” (repairing the world), visited local small businesses in Be’er Sheva, and developed practical storytelling and marketing skills.

Putting their learning into action, participants recruited lenders for small businesses through the SparkIL platform and crafted compelling marketing narratives to help share their stories and expand their reach.

Special thanks to SparkIL for their support of this program.

In Hillel Jerusalem’s "Jerusalem Spirit" program, students explored a powerful passage from the Book of Nehemiah: “Send me to Judah, to the city of my ancestors’ graves, so that I may rebuild it.”

Inspired by this ancient call to rebuild, they set out on a guided tour of Jerusalem’s Machane Yehuda Market and the Nachlaot neighborhood, discovering the stories of resilience behind local businesses and the people who continue to strengthen the city's communities every day.

And, of course, no visit to Machane Yehuda would be complete without sampling some of its incredible local delicacies!

In Hillel Tel Aviv’s “Creating Tranquility” program, students explored the intersection of wellness, creativity, and Jewish tradition, discovering how these elements can come together to support well-being on campus. In their last session, students created Shabbat candlesticks, applying the concepts they learned about finding inner light to the weekly Jewish ritual of creating light.

As we prepare for Shabbat, we are bringing Hillel Global Giving Week 2026 to a close.

This week, we’ve focused on ensuring Hillel Israel remains an anchor for students who are balancing their degrees with the heavy reality of life in Israel right now. Your partnership ensures that the Jewish identity, leadership, and community programs they've come to rely on continue each semester.

The dollor-for-dollor match ends tonight. If you’ve been meaning to participate, now is the time to make your contribution go twice as far.

It’s Day 4 of Hillel Global Giving Week, and the momentum is building!

Our students are navigating a very challenging year. Between reserve duty and disrupted routines, Hillel Israel has become their home-away-from-home" - a place to breathe, connect, and grow.

The best part? Your impact is still doubled. Thanks to our matching gift, every dollar you contribute today goes twice as far in providing the Jewish identity programming and community support our students depend on.

We are working hard to reach our goal before the campaign ends tomorrow. Help us stand with the next generation of Israeli leaders.
