Compassion Ireland

Compassion Ireland Releasing children from poverty in Jesus' name. Compassion Ireland is Christ Centred, Church Based and Child Focused.

Visit our website www.compassion.ie to find out more. Founded in 1952, Compassion is a leading Christian child development ministry committed to releasing children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty in Jesus’ name. To do this, Compassion partners with 8,500+ churches in more than 25 countries around the world to deliver our holistic child development programme. Every child born

into poverty faces a unique combination of challenges. That’s why our programme doesn’t just care for one area of a child’s life, giving them food or education in isolation, for example. Instead, our holistic child development programme empowers a child to overcome poverty in every area of their lives. We believe caring for a child’s mind, body, heart and spirit is the most effective way to release them from poverty, for good! We are Christ-centred: We believe that the Church is the hope of the world. We run our programmes in exclusive partnership with more than 8,500 local churches because they know their communities inside out. We’re church-based: Jesus is at the heart of what we do. Our programmes show God’s love for children born into extreme poverty. Whilst Christ’s love motivates us, we help children and families from all backgrounds, regardless of belief. We’re child-focused: We intentionally focus on caring for children most vulnerable to the devastating effects of poverty. We support children in every area of their lives, tackling the root causes of poverty that hold them back. We are committed to integrity: We’re committed to handling the finances entrusted to us with the utmost integrity. Your donations are used wisely and strategically, and always for the greatest benefit of children in poverty. Compassion connects you and the church around the world to end poverty in the life of a child, in Jesus' name. Learn more about what we do at: https://www.compassion.ie

This prayer from children in Guatemala will make your day! 🇬🇹
We’re passionate about discipling children and young people to understand the power of prayer and to know they can come to God in every moment.

Through our church partners, children are learning that they can always call upon God to provide for them, comfort them and guide them in their everyday lives.

At a project in rural Thailand, children and young people in Pakoiwa are taking the lead in caring for the environment in their community.

Thirteen-year-old Dawa is one of them. She began by learning how to separate waste and encouraging younger children to do the same. Step by step, these small actions are helping build greater awareness across the village.

From a young age, Dawa has felt a calling to care for the world around her. “The Bible says God created the world for us, and He created the Garden of Eden for us,” she says.

Motivated by her faith and a love for God’s creation, Dawa is part of a growing movement of young people learning what it means to care for the world around them, starting right where they are.

We love hearing stories like Dawa’s, of young people being empowered to steward and love the communities they live in. Through church driven Compassion projects like this one, children are supported to thrive and often go on to become change makers in their communities.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

This promise reminds us that hope begins with God. As we trust in him, he fills us with joy and peace that go beyond our circumstances.

And that hope was never meant to stay with us alone. When God fills our hearts, it overflows into the lives of others.

Today we’re reminded that small acts of faith, love, and generosity can carry hope further than we imagine.

“From the beginning, I believed that if we could enter a participant’s home, we could reach the entire family,” shares Pastor Eddan.

In a rural Honduran community where poverty and broken homes leave families feeling isolated, Pastor Eddan chose to lead by stepping into people’s everyday lives, through home visits, prayer, consistent care and simply being present.

What started with one centre now reaches more than 380 children and their families. And the impact goes beyond the children. Parents are reconnecting and faith is growing in their homes. 💙

This is what happens when the local church is equipped to care for children: hope doesn’t just reach one life, it transforms whole families.

Connie took her first steps using a plastic doll’s leg. Her mum, Janneth, gently strapped it to her body so she could learn to balance and walk. Later, despite the cost, her parents went into debt to buy a prosthetic so she could keep moving forward.

With support from their local church community, Connie was able to receive the care and medical help her family could not afford alone. Today, her story is a reminder of what can grow when a child is surrounded with love, support and opportunity.

Every child deserves the chance to flourish.

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21

We’re with you in feeling challenged by the truth of God’s Word today. Let’s lean into it together.

Following Jesus’ example, let’s seek the heavenly treasures that endure, the things that last far beyond what this world offers.

This Easter, as we celebrate the hope of his resurrection, take a moment to reflect: where is your heart today?

Change can begin with a toothbrush. Small things can change everything.

For children at a Compassion project in Togo, a simple hygiene kit, soap, a sponge, a towel, a toothbrush, is something they’ve never had before.

Project Director Eyram puts it simply:
“For many children here, a toothbrush is a luxury. Some were washing with corn sacks. These kits don’t just protect their health, they tell a child: you matter.”

When you see a need like this, it’s hard not to feel it. And when we feel it, we can move.

Yesterday was , a reminder of how vital access to clean, physical water is.

It brings life, restores health, and opens doors to opportunity, yet many children around the world are still without it.

At the same time, we’re reminded of a deeper need we all share. Jesus offers living water that satisfies our spiritual thirst and brings hope beyond our circumstances:

“Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.” John 4:14

As we reflect on yesterday, we remember both the urgent need for clean water and the lasting hope found in him.
