🌍💛 Today on International World Hunger Day 🌍💛
We remember that hunger is not always visible. Behind many closed doors are families struggling to choose between heating, food, rent, or essentials.

At Open Access, we provide a listening ear and practical support during difficult times — from family and relationship support, social welfare guidance and appeals, to housing and health information, advocacy, crisis intervention, and access to food support through the European Social Fund FEAD Programme and generous local donations. 🤝

In the last 12 months alone, we supported 913 Open Access appointments — an increase of 59% from the previous year with food support. This shows the growing need in our community.

Every donation makes a real difference. 🥫💚

🧁🍪 Some delicious treats fresh from the kitchen at Maryville Emergency Hostel! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

Our staff have been running baking activities with residents, creating some lovely homemade goodies enjoyed by everyone in the service. 💛

Maryville provides safe emergency accommodation for up to 15 single adults. Open 7 days a week with dedicated staff on-site at all times, we also provide keyworker support to help residents move towards stable housing. 🏠✨

Food is not only a basic need, but also an important entry point for conversation — often the first step toward positive change in the lives of those we support.
Yesterday at the ESF+ event in Dublin, Joanna Gawrylczyk-Malesa from the European Commission highlighted the vital role charities play in meeting basic needs. She also spoke about the EU’s commitment to a new Anti-Poverty Strategy, at a time when:
• One in five Europeans is at risk of poverty or social exclusion
• Around 1 million people are affected by homelessness across the EU
• One in four children is at risk of poverty or social exclusion
At NW Cornerstone, we are proud to deliver a range of services aimed at responding to these challenges and supporting those most in need.
Our Open Access Service runs every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:30am–12:00pm. Our trained volunteers are on hand to offer advice, information, and food support through ESF+ Food and Basic Material Support from the European Social Fund.

We’ve made the switch to reusable meal containers to help reduce waste and support a greener community 💚

Our new containers are:
✅ Eco-friendly
✅ Durable & leak-proof
✅ Microwave safe
✅ BPA free and safe for reheating

A small change that can make a big difference for our environment and community 🌱
