🏡🤝 NW Cornerstone Housing First staff members Ciara Finan and Joe Nevin were delighted to attend the Housing First National Office's Fourth Annual Housing First Conference on 4 June 2026 at the University of Galway.

📸 Ciara and Joe proudly represented Northwest Housing First, joining colleagues from across Ireland to exchange ideas, reflect on best practice, and explore new opportunities for collaboration in the delivery of Housing First services.

💡 This year's conference theme was "Strengthening Housing First Practice through Coaching, Reflection, and Collaboration."

👥 The event brought together over 200 housing practitioners, representatives from local authorities, NGOs, the HSE, and researchers from across the country. It proved to be a highly worthwhile and productive day, offering valuable insights, learning opportunities, and networking with peers committed to ending homelessness.

👏 Well done to Ciara and Joe for representing the service and contributing to this important national conversation.

Last week, staff and volunteers from our Older Persons Services took part in a STRIDE workshop alongside representatives from Atlantic Technological University (ATU). The session provided an opportunity to explore how innovation and digital technologies can help strengthen the services we provide to older people in our community.
Funded through the PEACEPLUS Programme, STRIDE (Smart Rural Innovation Driven Empowerment) works with communities to identify local challenges and co-design practical digital solutions that improve service delivery, connectivity, and sustainability.
The focus group allowed our team to share experiences, discuss opportunities for improvement, and contribute ideas that will help shape future developments within our services. We look forward to continuing our involvement with STRIDE and ATU as this exciting project progresses.

🌍💛 Today on International World Hunger Day 🌍💛
We remember that hunger is not always visible. Behind many closed doors are families struggling to choose between heating, food, rent, or essentials.

At Open Access, we provide a listening ear and practical support during difficult times — from family and relationship support, social welfare guidance and appeals, to housing and health information, advocacy, crisis intervention, and access to food support through the European Social Fund FEAD Programme and generous local donations. 🤝

In the last 12 months alone, we supported 913 Open Access appointments — an increase of 59% from the previous year with food support. This shows the growing need in our community.

Every donation makes a real difference. 🥫💚
