It is with great sadness that we remember our wonderful colleague and friend, Sylvie, who was a much loved part of Shannon Family Resource Centre for many years.
In her work as a children’s counsellor, she had a very special way with every child who came through her door. She was kind, caring and incredibly warm. There was always a hug when one was needed, plenty of encouragement and most importantly she made them feel safe and understood.
Her creativity was such a big part of how she worked. Through play, imagination and her ability to meet children at their level, she always found a way to connect with them. The difference she made to so many children and families over the years is something that will be remembered long after her.
Sylvie brought that same warmth and kindness to all of us who had the privilege of working alongside her. She was the person who would listen when you needed to talk, offer advice when you needed it and somehow leave you feeling that you were doing a great job.
There was so much more to Sylvie than her work. She adored her family, especially her grandchildren and loved sharing stories about them and her camping trips to West Cork.
We will miss hearing about her latest Temu finds, her new recipes and her cleaning hacks. It was these little everyday chats, stories and laughs that made Sylvie so special to us.
We were very lucky to have had her as a colleague and friend, she will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all of us here at Shannon Family Resource Centre.
Our thoughts are with Oliver, Graham, Hazell, her grandchildren Jamie and Sophia, her extended family and all that knew her.
