We are saddened to share the passing of Anne Smyth. 🕊️
Anne was a wonderful supporter of Shannon Musical Society and was part of our Front of House team for many years. She was a dear friend to many and will be greatly missed.
We are thinking of Anne’s family and friends at this very sad time. 🕊️

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Mary Forde.

Mary was a valued member of the society, having been part of our props department for over 20 years and serving on committee also.
You would often meet her in an SMS hoodie which she wore with such pride. She brought her humour and wit wherever she went. We will miss her dearly.

Thinking of all her family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.

May she rest in peace 🕊️

And finally our wonderful ensemble. It is great to see so many new and returning members this year. We’re going to have so much fun bringing this show to life🐇🕰️💛.

A massive thank you to everyone who helped this weekend. To our panel of Michael, Stephen, Karen and Carmel who made everyone feel welcome. To Aidan Fox for being a very calming and helpful reader in the audition room. Peter Walsh and St. Conaires school for our venue. Tom Barrett for all his work behind the scenes . Lauren Barrett for helping Stephen with our dance audition. Aoibhín for her scheduling, Jaymee for promotion, Dara for keeping the panel well fed and our committee for everything else being the scenes.

Thank you to everyone that took the time to audition with us this weekend. As always, the talent was outstanding💛✨. A massive congratulations to all our cast.

We are delighted to announce Dara Gough as the new president of Shannon Musical Society.

A long time member, who has been Chairperson 4 times, been on countless committees and is an ever present volunteer, we know Dara will do an amazing job taking up the mantle.

In August 2025, we lost our dear Vie Leahy who had held the role for 10 years. While Dara will make the role her own and bring her own unique and caring personality, we know she will embody the love and dedication that Vie had. Dara’s vast experience also puts her in good stead to help guide committees during the next 5 years of her term.

We wish Dara all the best in her new role, which she will carry out alongside her current duties as society Treasurer.
