Thanks to everyone who came to the opening night event at the The Millbank Theatre for the showing of The Ulster American. It was throughly enjoyable, and raised €1000 for consumables for the RCFR group.

Slightly belated Thankyou to everyone who donated to the CFR group at the St Patrick’s Day parade. All the bags are counted and the total is in.

The weather was favourable and there was a great turnout.

You generously gave €1791 to the group which will go to buy AED pads and batteries for the group.

It couldn’t function without your support.

It was great to be invited to this event. Four of our volunteers from Rush were able to attend to learn more about how stroke patients are treated and the pathways to recovery in our local hospitals. Massive thanks to the Doctors, Hospital staff and CFRs in North Dublin who organised the event

Yesterday, we organised a very informative talk on strokes for our own CFR group as well as a number of local groups. The amazing Dr Jane Buckley and Dr Róisin Costello from the Mater Hospital kindly gave up their time to provide an insightful and informative evening for over 45 volunteers.

Strokes are a regular callout for CFR groups and ensuring our skills are up to date is very important to ensuring the best quality of care for the community we serve.

This event could not have been done without the support of Loraine Kennedy from Clontarf Hospital or our colleagues in National Ambulance Service (NAS)

A substitute AED at St Catherine NS is now in situ until the original can be repaired.

07/02/2026

Some of you will have noticed that the St Catherine’s AED is currently being repaired following use. We replaced the pads, but it still isn’t working properly. Will post here when it is back functioning again.

The closest AED is situated near the Rush Athletic soccer pitches, as shown on our homepage. Sorry for any inconvenience caused

Our stats for the year were that we responded to 65 alerts for mainly chest pain or suspected stoke during the year (just over one a week) and 10 cardiac arrests.

We also provided training to neighbouring CFR groups and to local organisations (eg the community council, toddler group etc) and did a number of demos in Rush.

Well done to our members, and hope the patients are doing well.

Time for New Year’s resolutions. We suggest this on your list.
