🔙 Throwback Tuesday 🔙

Last year, some of our volunteers took part in a fantastic joint training exercise at Deer Park Estate alongside teams from Howth RNLI, Raheny St John Ambulance, Dublin North Bay CFR, Donabate & Portrane CFR, and other neighbouring responder groups. 🚑🚤

Exercises like these are invaluable, giving volunteers the opportunity to work alongside multidisciplinary teams, share knowledge, build relationships, and gain hands-on experience in realistic scenarios.

Training together helps ensure we’re ready to work seamlessly when real emergencies happen—and it’s always great to catch up with fellow volunteers who share the same commitment to their communities.

May Call Report

🚑 4 alerts received
🏃 First on scene to all 4 calls
❤️ 100% chest pain incidents

Several members also completed their CFR-C refresher training this month. Because even when the alerts are quiet, the learning never stops.

And here's a fact you might not know: we're completely voluntary and rely on public donations to keep the wheels turning and the alerts beeping!

April - Three calls. Three chances to make a difference 🚑

This month our CFR crew responded to 3 call-outs:
⚡ 2 suspected strokes
❤️ 1 cardiac-related emergency

Stroke recognition saves lives — think FAST:
🙂 Face – has the face dropped on one side?
💪 Arms – can they lift both arms?
🗣️ Speech – is it slurred or confused?
⏰ Time – call 112/999 immediately

Spot it FAST. Call FAST. Act FAST.

Because in stroke care, every minute matters.

March Call report… better late than never

11 call-outs
1 cardiac arrest
8 chest pain / heart problems
2 suspected strokes

Our responders were first on scene for 82% of calls. A busy month.

We were also proud to attend the Donabate Portrane St. Patrick’s Day parade 🍀

Credits to all our volunteers for showing up when it matters most.

On Thursday evening, members of the Donabate Portrane Community First Responders visited the National Ambulance Service base in Swords.

Our team had the opportunity to meet paramedics and advanced paramedics, tour the station and ambulance, and chat through recent calls and things CFR 🚑

A big thank you to the crews for the warm welcome, it’s hugely appreciated!

Did you know? So far this month, our responders have attended 10 calls, ranging from cardiac arrest to strokes and heart attacks.

Delighted to be part of the inaugural Donabate Portrane St Patrick’s Day parade 🇮🇪☘️

We were there to raise awareness of the Donabate Portrane Community First Responders. A group of trained volunteers dispatched by the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) to respond to serious incidents in our area, including cardiac arrests, chest pain, strokes and choking emergencies.

Many people in our community are unaware of our presence until the moment we are dispatched by NEOC and arrive at your home or nearby incidents.

If you require emergency assistance always call 112 or 999.

Currently, there are no 24/7 publicly accessible AEDs in Donabate or Portrane - something we are working hard to change.

We rely entirely on Donations to maintain and expand our lifesaving resources within the community.

CCFR is just one of 300+ CFR schemes across Ireland working under the National Ambulance Service. Together, these schemes show the huge diversity and shared commitment to caring for patients in communities nationwide.
CCFR has grown thanks to incredible local and national support, and we’re proud to give back by supporting other schemes with training, equipment, and advice.
Always working together for our communities. 🚑❤️
