It’s brilliant to see skills being shared within our community and learning how we can repair, reuse and give clothes a new lease of life rather than throwing them away. ♻️💚

Ireland’s SDG Week takes place from 19–27 September 2026, hosted by Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment highlighting the work happening in communities across the country to support a more sustainable future.

From climate action and biodiversity to community projects, health and wellbeing, there are lots of ways to get involved.

Recent Eurostat data indicates that Ireland remains among the highest producers of plastic packaging waste per capita in the European Union. In 2022, the average EU citizen generated 36.1kg of plastic packaging waste, while Ireland generated approximately 70kg per person, placing it among the highest producers in the EU. ♻️

This July, make a conscious effort to reduce your reliance on single-use plastic packaging in your day to day life. From swapping to reusable bottles and coffee cups, to purchasing non-packaged grocery items, to refilling cleaning products at your local refill store, there are many small changes you can take to make a big difference. 💙
