💕 50 years of marriage and a wonderful gift to Crocus 💕

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming Gerry and Carmel Meehan to Crocus and accepting their very generous donation of €1,000.

To celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, Gerry and Carmel asked family and friends for donations instead of gifts, choosing Crocus as their charity. What a lovely way to mark such a special milestone! 💕

Fáinche, Cathy and myself (Michele)enjoyed a cuppa and a lovely chat with them, sharing stories of Crocus and showing them around our beautiful centre. We explained how donations help keep our doors open and support the people who come through them.

Their visit was a lovely reminder of how important it is to share what happens inside Crocus — the care, understanding, friendship and support, and the difference our community’s generosity makes.

Gerry and Carmel spoke warmly about the peaceful, welcoming atmosphere here. They also said how lucky they have been to have each other — a beautiful sentiment after 50 years together. 💕

Breast Cancer Awareness Month has officially begun and our “Care 4 Ur Pair” is proudly displayed in the centre of our busy Monaghan town.

At Crocus, we know how overwhelming information about breast cancer can feel, so we keep it simple: early detection saves lives, and you never have to navigate it alone.

Why don’t you do a check today? It only takes a few minutes.

What to look for :
Beyond a new lump in your breast or armpit, watch for changes in breast shape or size, skin dimpling or ni**le changes. Most changes turn out of be harmless; but getting checked gives you total peace of mind.

Simple steps to take: get to know what’s normal for your body, do regular self checks, and book routine mammograms if recommended.

Whether you are looking for a friendly chat, lovely cup of tea, or guidance through a diagnosis or screening, our doors are open 9-4 Monday to Friday, and the kettle is on.

💜 What a fantastic day! 💜

We’re delighted to share some of the lovely photos and videos from our Crocus Family Fun Day last Saturday.

A huge thank you to every single person who came along — our members, families and friends — and to everyone who helped in any way throughout the day.

So many people quietly pitched in, lent a hand and helped everything come together, and we are incredibly grateful to you all.

Our Crocus Local Hero — and Monaghan’s Local Hero 💜
Martin will be on Northern Sound tomorrow Friday so tune in.

We are absolutely delighted to see Martin Maguire recognised as a Local Hero.

A very special thank you and well done to fellow Crocus member Martin McKenna, who nominated Martin for this recognition. It was a lovely thing to do and such a fitting acknowledgement of everything Martin has given to others over the years.

Martin Maguire was the person who started Men’s Den at Crocus, something that became a hugely important part of his life and something we will forever be grateful to him for.

Because Martin had the vision and determination to get Men’s Den started, more than 100 men have since come through its doors and received friendship, support and understanding at Crocus. That is an incredible legacy.

And Men’s Den is only one part of everything Martin has done over the years. He has always been there to help, encourage and support others and has given so much of himself to Crocus and the wider community.

Martin Maguire truly is one in a million — Our Crocus Local Hero and very deserving of being recognised as Monaghan’s Local Hero. 💜

And a huge well done again to Martin McKenna for putting his name forward. 💜
