Even if this post reaches just one person who needs support, it will have been worth sharing.

Many people have heard of Crocus, but unless cancer has touched your life, you may not realise just how much support is available through our doors.

A cancer diagnosis doesn’t just affect your body.

It can bring fear, anxiety, sleepless nights, uncertainty and endless β€œwhat ifs”. It can affect your confidence, your relationships, your family life and your mental wellbeing.

These thoughts and feelings are completely normal, but when you’re living through them, they can feel overwhelming.

At Crocus, we provide a safe, welcoming and completely confidential space for anyone affected by cancer.

Sometimes people need practical support. Sometimes they need professional support from one of our counsellors or psychotherapists. Sometimes they simply need to sit down with someone who truly understands because they have walked a similar path themselves.

We also have a team of complementary therapists who support members’ wellbeing and help provide some calm during what can often be a very difficult time.

Support is available not only for the person diagnosed, but also for family members, carers and loved ones.

If you are worried about someone, you can contact us on their behalf, call in for information, or collect a support pack for them. Once registered, our team can help guide them towards the support that best meets their needs.

Crocus is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm.

Everything we provide is free of charge to members and their families thanks to the generosity of our fundraisers, volunteers, donors and the wider Monaghan community.

Most importantly, when you walk through our doors, you will be met with understanding, compassion and confidentiality.

Please share this post. You never know who might need to see it today. πŸ’œ

πŸ’œ A Special Thank You to Bridie Leonard πŸ’œ

We were delighted to welcome Bridie Leonard to Crocus recently as she presented a generous donation of €400.

As part of celebrating a very special birthday, Bridie kindly chose to share some of the gifts she received by making donations to causes close to her heart, and we are truly honoured that Crocus was one of the organisations she chose to support.

Bridie’s connection to Crocus is a very personal one. Her sister Margaret and brother-in-law Patsy have both benefited from the support and services available through Crocus and continue to be part of the Crocus family. Having seen first-hand the difference that support can make, Bridie wanted to give something back and help ensure that others can continue to benefit from the services available.

Acts of kindness like this mean so much to us. It is incredibly thoughtful to think of others during such a special personal celebration, and Bridie’s generosity will help us continue supporting people and families affected by cancer in our community.

On behalf of everyone at Crocus, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Bridie for her kindness, generosity and for thinking of us.

πŸ’œ A Huge Thank You to the Knocks Drama Group! πŸ’œ

We were absolutely delighted to welcome members of the Knocks Drama Group to Crocus this week as they presented us with an incredible cheque for €1,802 raised from their recent production of Family Affairs.

What a fantastic achievement, and a true reflection of the support, generosity and community spirit shown by everyone involved β€” from the cast and crew to those who attended and supported the show.

Funds raised like this help us continue providing support, information, therapies, activities and a welcoming space for people affected by cancer across our community.

On behalf of everyone at Crocus, thank you to the Knocks Drama Group and to everyone who supported the production. Your kindness and hard work are very much appreciated.

This afternoon we met with Directors and Volunteers from Crocus Cancer Support centre where we presented an Outdoor Thermostatically Controlled Keypad Cabinet and a Defibrillator which will be installed on the front of the centre.
This latest Public Access project will be a huge asset to the local community and was made possible by the generosity of organisations that i will reference in a seperate post next week.

A very genuine Thanks to the Board of Directors who made this possible.
