Fantastic to see former CE participant Kevin McGuire featured in the press. Kevin's story is one of resilience, innovation, and community spirit, turning reclaimed materials into a successful café and community space. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition, Kevin. 👏☕️♻️

🌟 Monaghan Ranked 2nd in Ireland! 🌟

We are delighted to see Monaghan move up to 2nd place in the latest Irish Business Against Litter (IBAL) rankings.

This achievement reflects the tremendous effort that goes into keeping our town and surrounding areas clean, tidy, and welcoming.

A special tribute goes to our CE Scheme participants Paddy Cooney, Daniel Clerkin, Anthony O'Leary, and Patryk Kowal, whose hard work, commitment, and dedication throughout the year play a vital role in maintaining Monaghan's streets, green spaces, and main roads. Their daily efforts, often carried out behind the scenes, have helped make this achievement possible. For our CE participants, there is no such thing as bad weather when it comes to taking pride in their work and helping to keep Monaghan looking its best.

We would also like to extend our sincere thank you to Monaghan Tidy Towns for their dedication, guidance, and supervision of many of these projects. Their leadership, along with the support of volunteers, local businesses, community groups, and residents, continues to make a positive difference throughout our town.

As reported by Northern Sound FM, the IBAL report noted that areas which were heavily littered in previous surveys have been cleaned up, describing it as "a really great report." This recognition is a testament to the teamwork, dedication, and community spirit that exists in Monaghan.

Congratulations and thank you to everyone involved.
Together, we are making Monaghan a cleaner, greener, and more welcoming place for all. 👏🍀

🌸 Growing Something Special 🌸

Our flower displays are looking better every week, and this year we are especially excited about our Sweet Peas.

These beautiful plants were grown from seed by our CE participant, Eamon McGlone, whose care and dedication have helped them thrive. From tiny seeds to strong, healthy plants, they are now almost ready to burst into bloom, and we are looking forward to enjoying their colour and fragrance in the weeks ahead.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Greenfingers Garden Centre for the gorgeous hanging baskets that add so much colour to our community, and for their continued support in providing beautiful, high-quality plants year after year.

It is amazing to see what can be achieved with a little patience, dedication, and a love of nature!!!

Kevin McGuire was part of the St. Joseph’s CE Scheme for a number of years, and during his time with us he contributed greatly to many community projects, particularly through his work with Tidy Towns initiatives.

Kevin’s creativity, knowledge, and passion for recycling and environmentally friendly design made a lasting impact on our projects and community spaces. Some of his outstanding work included recycled metal sculptures, handcrafted wooden entrances for the Sage Garden, and contributions to the outdoor classroom and activity area in St. Mary’s B.N.S.

It is therefore only fitting that Kevin has now designed and opened an environmentally friendly coffee shop, beautifully fitted using recycled and sustainable materials — combining his creativity, environmental values, and love for coffee.

Continuing his commitment to sustainability, Kevin also plans to offer free used coffee grounds to customers for composting and gardening purposes, helping to reduce waste while encouraging environmentally friendly practices within the community.

We would like to extend our very best wishes to Kevin and his son Nathan on their exciting new venture. Wishing them every success for the future and many happy years ahead with Genesis Coffee.
