Huge congratulations to our former participant, Kevin McGuire!

Kevin has received the 'Champions Repair & Reuse Award'🏆♻️ for his fantastic commitment to sustainability.

Kevin recently opened his own coffee shop, fitting it out with repurposed and sustainable items and proving that used materials can be given a new lease of life. He even gives away his used coffee grounds for free to anyone who wants them for compost! ☕🌱

Well done, Kevin – a fantastic achievement and very well deserved! 👏🎉

Monaghan's Heritage Heroes
The Clogher Historical Society (est. 1952) promotes the history and heritage of Monaghan, Fermanagh, South Tyrone, and parts of Donegal. The Clogher Record is overseen by an editorial committee, who have all written for the journal, and for many other publications. The editorial Committee includes Bishop Duffy, Larry McDermott (editor, Carrickmacross), Jack Johnston (Clogher, co. Tyrone), Séamas Mac Annaidh (Belcoo, co. Fermanagh), and Seán Corr (Tydavnet)(missing from Photo). Grace Moloney, Coordinator (missing from photo)

Bishop Joseph Duffy developed a lifelong passion for history and language, pursuing advanced studies in Celtic Studies, Old Irish, and Linguistics. For over sixty years, he has contributed extensively as a writer, editor, and speaker, including major works on diocesan and local history. A dedicated supporter of the Irish language and local heritage, he continues to share his knowledge generously through publications and talks.
Larry McDermott is a retired teacher and local historian from Carrickmacross. He has edited The Clogher Record for over 20 years and serves on the Monaghan County Museum advisory board. He is also actively involved in several voluntary organisations, including the Patrick Kavanagh Society.
Jack Johnston is a retired farmer and historian from Clogher, Co. Tyrone. A former editor of The Clogher Record, he sits on the Ulster Local History Trust and is closely involved with the William Carleton Summer School.
Séamas Mac Annaidh is an author and teacher from Fermanagh. He has published novels and short stories and specialises in the history of Fermanagh writers, newspapers, and the Irish language.
Seán Corr (missing from photo) is a librarian from Knockatallon, Co. Monaghan. He currently works at the Linenhall Library in Belfast, previously at Enniskillen Library, and has contributed several articles to The Clogher Record.
Grace Moloney (missing from photo) is a Researcher with the Clogher Historical Society. She has worked for CHS for over twenty years while raising her children. She have a strong interest in the natural world, the environment and landscape, and in more sustainable, less invasive ways of living, which is why placenames hold such fascination for her.

Its journal, The Clogher Record, features work from leading historians and local writers, including Séamus Ó Mórdha, Theo McMahon, James and Peadar Murnane, Ellen McKenna, Donald M. Schelegel, Katharine Simms, Siobhán McDermott, Fintan Walsh, Joan Vincent, Rev. P. Ó Gallachair, Owen Dudley Edwards, Patrick J. Duffy, K.W. Nicholls, Tomás Ó Fiaich, Aidan Walsh, Eamon Phoenix, Cormac Bourke, Charles Doherty and Nollaig Ó Muraile.
The society has also produced important standalone works, including The Medieval Pilgrimage to St Patrick’s Purgatory: Lough Derg and the European Tradition (1988), Landscapes of South Ulster (1993), Tiarnach of Clones (2018), Davnet and Dympna: A Single Cult (2021), and Aghabog Inheritance (2024), with Tyholland Luminary due in 2026. It also played a key role in establishing Monaghan County Museum.
More recently, in partnership with Monaghan County Council Heritage Office, it has led the Monaghan Field Names Project, recording nearly 3,000 place names and uncovering previously unknown heritage sites with strong community involvement.
Membership is open to all (€25 per year), with online access to The Clogher Record and other journals.

Everyone at St. Joseph's CEPD Clg. is incredibly proud of everything you have achieved. Seeing your journey from joining our Community Employment Programme to progressing into full-time employment is a fantastic achievement and a true reflection of your hard work, commitment, and positive attitude.

Throughout her time on the CE Scheme, Sandra embraced every opportunity for personal and professional development. Alongside valuable workplace experience, she benefited from ongoing mentoring and support, wellbeing initiatives, and a range of QQI (FETAC) accredited qualifications, all of which helped build her confidence, skills and readiness for long-term employment.

We would like to sincerely thank Enterprising Monaghan for providing Sandra with such a welcoming and supportive work placement. Your partnership has played an important role in helping her develop the experience and confidence needed to take this next step.

Sandra's transition into full-time employment is exactly the positive outcome the Community Employment Programme is designed to achieve. It highlights the value of strong collaboration between employers and Community Employment Schemes.

🌟 Monaghan Ranked 2nd in Ireland! 🌟

We are delighted to see Monaghan move up to 2nd place in the latest Irish Business Against Litter (IBAL) rankings.

This achievement reflects the tremendous effort that goes into keeping our town and surrounding areas clean, tidy, and welcoming.

A special tribute goes to our CE Scheme participants Paddy Cooney, Daniel Clerkin, Anthony O'Leary, and Patryk Kowal, whose hard work, commitment, and dedication throughout the year play a vital role in maintaining Monaghan's streets, green spaces, and main roads. Their daily efforts, often carried out behind the scenes, have helped make this achievement possible. For our CE participants, there is no such thing as bad weather when it comes to taking pride in their work and helping to keep Monaghan looking its best.

We would also like to extend our sincere thank you to Monaghan Tidy Towns for their dedication, guidance, and supervision of many of these projects. Their leadership, along with the support of volunteers, local businesses, community groups, and residents, continues to make a positive difference throughout our town.

As reported by Northern Sound FM, the IBAL report noted that areas which were heavily littered in previous surveys have been cleaned up, describing it as "a really great report." This recognition is a testament to the teamwork, dedication, and community spirit that exists in Monaghan.
