Starting Junior Infants is a big milestone, for both children and parents.

This practical and supportive course is designed to help families feel confident and prepared for the transition into school life.

Together, we’ll explore simple, effective strategies to build your child’s emotional readiness, strengthen social and communication skills, and encourage independence in everyday tasks.

We’ll also look at developing attention and listening, creating helpful routines, and understanding sensory needs that can impact your child’s school experience.

From physical skills to practical preparation, like recognising belongings and managing lunchboxes,
this course offers real-life tools you can use at home right away.

We’ll also focus on parent readiness, giving you the reassurance and guidance needed to support your child with confidence.

Whether you or your child is feeling excited, nervous, or somewhere in between, this course will help you both start the school journey feeling prepared, calm, and capable.

Online: Tuesday 9th June 7.00pm-8.30pm

🚨 New national report highlights the growing impact of drug-related intimidation (DRI) across Ireland 🚨

The first national report from the DRIVE initiative shows that drug-related intimidation is affecting individuals, families and entire communities nationwide. The findings underline the urgent need for confidential family supports and community-based responses.

📊 Key findings from the report:
• 1,027 cases of drug-related intimidation recorded nationally in 2025
• 63% of people affected were living with family members
• 59% of cases involved men, but all age groups were impacted — from under 18s to over 50s
• Co***ne was linked to 59% of intimidation cases
• 67% of cases involved drug debt, ranging from under €100 to over €20,000
• 10% had debts exceeding €10,000
• The most common forms of intimidation were:

Threats to individuals (64%)
Threats to family members (25%)
Physical violence (20%)

• Nearly 1 in 3 victims experienced intimidation for more than a year
• Only 10% of cases were reported to Gardaí
• 46% of cases were resolved informally without formal Garda intervention

💬 The report also highlights the hidden harm experienced by families, with many borrowing money, using savings, or living under prolonged fear and stress due to intimidation linked to addiction and debt.

🤝 The DRIVE initiative has now:
• Trained 800+ people across 24 Drug & Alcohol Task Force areas
• Developed a nationwide support network for those affected by DRI
• Expanded confidential support pathways for families and communities

📢 Important message: People affected by drug-related intimidation are not alone, and support is available confidentially and without judgement.

More information and supports are available through the DRIVE project and for anyone living in the North East of Ireland - contact FASN directly.

Today marked the Buggie Buddies very first day teaming up with the Knit & Chat crew in Monaghan Library, and it couldn’t have been nicer. After our relaxed walk, we all gathered for a cuppa, a chat, and the chance to try out a new skill of knitting or crocheting.

The parents/carers who joined us today decided to make a start on making a little hand‑knitted blanket for their baby’s car seat, and a few even said they’re ready to take on crocheting next week. We love the enthusiasm already!

This group is all about being supportive, relaxed, and welcoming. If you’re looking to get out of the house, meet new people, or maybe learn something creative at your own pace, you are welcome join us.

We’ll be back next week, same time, same place.
No experience needed. No pressure.
Just friendly faces, warm chats, and a cosy space for you and your little one.

All new parents are welcome to join us, learn a few stitches, or simply enjoy the company.
