🎨🤝 Week 5 Creating a More Welcoming Community, Together!❤️🌍

Another fantastic week of volunteering, teamwork and community spirit!

This week, our dedicated volunteers from the Men’s Group, supported by Monaghan Migrant Support Centre (MMSC – SICAP 🇪🇺🇮🇪), continued their volunteering journey at St. Patrick’s Accommodation Centre.

🎨 Through their hard work, creativity and commitment, the group is helping to transform one of the rooms in the accommodation into a more colourful, welcoming and comfortable space for residents.

🤝 This initiative is about so much more than improving a room. It is about bringing people together, sharing skills, building friendships and creating a stronger sense of belonging. Every week, our volunteers show how small actions can make a positive difference in people’s lives and help build a more inclusive community. ❤️

🌍 Together, we are creating spaces where everyone feels welcome, valued and connected.

A heartfelt thank you to **St. Patrick’s Accommodation Centre** for welcoming this meaningful community initiative, and a very special thank you to all the amazing volunteers from the Men’s Group for their time, enthusiasm, teamwork and continued dedication. 👏❤️

Building connections. Sharing skills. Strengthening our community together!🤝

🌎 OUR FIRST LATIN AMERICAN EVENT WAS A WONDERFUL SUCCESS!

🌎 WE CAME TOGETHER, WE CELEBRATED, WE CONNECTED!

We are delighted to look back on our first Latin American cultural event in Monaghan, which brought people together through food, music, dance, culture and community.

A very special thank you to everyone who took part and proudly represented their countries:

🇸🇻 El Salvador
🇳🇮 Nicaragua
🇧🇷 Brazil
🇪🇸 Spain
🇲🇽 Mexico
🇻🇪 Venezuela
🇧🇴 Bolivia

Thank you for sharing your food, music, songs, dance, traditions and stories with the wider community.

And thank you for all the time, preparation, creativity and effort that went into making the afternoon such a success. ❤️

This event was about much more than celebrating Latin American culture.

It was about bringing people together, creating connections, sharing experiences and building a stronger and more inclusive community in Monaghan.

For many people, sharing a traditional dish, performing a dance, singing a song or telling a story is a way of sharing a little piece of home.

By creating a space where people can share their culture and meet others, we are creating opportunities for connection, belonging and understanding.

🌎 Seven countries. Different cultures. One community.

As our first Latin American event, we are incredibly proud of what we achieved together.

And this is only the beginning.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, participated, volunteered and supported the event.

🙏 Thank you for helping us make a difference.

From Nordic Walking Sessions to a Charity Challenge! 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️👏

What started as a summer Nordic Walking programme in Carrickmacross supported by SICAP 🇪🇺🇮🇪 has grown into a wonderful group of people who continue to walk, improve their skills and challenge themselves.

A huge thank you to Svetlana, our dedicated Nordic Walking facilitator, who has been professionally guiding the group, teaching the correct Nordic Walking technique and encouraging participants throughout their journey.

We were especially delighted to see that this summer’s training gave some of our walkers the confidence to take on a new challenge! Svetlana, Konstantin and Olga recently participated in a fundraising event in support of Scoil Mhuire na nGael in Dundalk The Bay 5K

For the group, it was not all about the result — although they did even better than they expected! It was about taking part in a good cause, trying something new and experiencing the fantastic atmosphere and encouragement along the route.

As Svetlana shared, they were welcomed and supported throughout the course, sometimes even overtaking other walkers! Great organisation, wonderful participants, plenty of positive energy — and, of course, their Nordic Walking poles helping them along the way. 😊

And a full rainbow appearing in the sky just before the start made the day even more special! 🌈

We are very proud to see how the group has developed and, most importantly, that they are continuing their Nordic Walking journey beyond the summer programme.

Congratulations to Svetlana, Konstantin and Olga on taking on the challenge and supporting a great cause! 👏💚

And well done to everyone in our Nordic Walking group — keep walking, keep moving and keep inspiring each other!
