A massive congratulations to our Senior Hurlers on a superb performance in today’s Cú Chulainn Division 2 Shield Final, defeating Fionnbarra Naofa on a scoreline of 2-25 to 2-7 in Kingspan Breffni, Cavan.

The Cú Chulainn Cup and Shield competitions bring together clubs from across Ulster, Connacht and north Leinster, providing a valuable opportunity for teams to test themselves against clubs from neighbouring provinces. The competition promotes the growth and development of hurling, offering meaningful, competitive games beyond county championships and league competitions.

🏆 BACK-TO-BACK ALL-IRELAND HIBERNIA CUP CHAMPIONS! 🏆

Everyone at Longford Slashers Hurling Club is immensely proud to congratulate the Longford U15 Hurlers on being crowned Back-to-Back All-Ireland Hibernia cup Champions after a thrilling 2-12 to 1-14 victory over Louth.

This is a fantastic achievement for Longford Hurling, but it is also a hugely proud occasion for our club.

To have such a significant Longford Slashers presence throughout the county panel is a testament to the incredible work being done within our underage hurling structures.

The commitment of our players, coaches, parents and volunteers over many years has helped produce a group of young hurlers who continue to lead the way for Longford.

Having 14 Longford Slashers players on an All-Ireland winning county panel is an achievement in itself and reflects the dedication, skill and work ethic these young men bring every time they pull on both the sky blue of Longford Slashers and the county jersey. Their contribution to this historic back-to-back success cannot be overstated.

They continue to set the standard for the next generation of young Slashers hurlers proving that hard work, dedication and belief can achieve the highest honours.

A special word of congratulations also goes to our own Robbie Stakelum and Niall Ward. Although not directly involved with the county management team, their tireless work coaching and developing these players at club level has been instrumental in their journey. The foundations they, along with so many dedicated club coaches, have helped build are clearly evident in the success these young hurlers are now enjoying on the national stage.

This success belongs to every player, coach, mentor, volunteer and family who has played a part in their development. Today is another proud chapter in the story of Longford Slashers Hurling Club, and we couldn’t be prouder of the outstanding contribution our players have made in bringing another All-Ireland title back to Longford.
