✨ Listening to the Body, With Compassion ✨

We are delighted to welcome Aya El Kahia, a meta‑health professional, who will be guiding us through a gentle and reflective session.
Aya’s approach invites us to see the body as a communicator — reminding us that physical symptoms can sometimes be connected to deeper emotional experiences.

This workshop is not about diagnosing or giving medical advice. It is about awareness, connection, and kindness toward ourselves. A simple, grounded space to pause, reconnect with the body, reflect, and share safely.

✨ Specialist Awareness Training with AkiDwA and Doras ✨

Today, two of our team members attended the SAFE – Support and Aid on Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM) and Early & Forced Marriage (EFM) training delivered by AkiDwA AkiDwA in collaboration with Doras Doras.

It was an incredibly informative and eye‑opening session, filled with essential insights, real‑world context, and important statistics on both FGM and EFM. These are issues that frontline professionals must be aware of, and we are grateful for the opportunity to deepen our understanding.

A huge shoutout to Doras and AkiDwA for organising this vital training for frontline professionals in Limerick. Your commitment to awareness, safety, and empowerment makes a real difference.

☕🎲 This morning at our office space, we had a fabulous turnout for our Coffee Morning with Board Games!

Between laughter over classics like Uno and 5 Second Rule, mindful coloring, jigsaws, and plenty of chats over a cuppa, the room was filled with joy and connection. 🌸✨

With the summer holidays in full swing, even a few kids joined in — and they absolutely loved the group games! 🧩👧🧒

It was truly a lovely morning of fun, friendship, and laughter. 💕 As always, everyone is already asking for the next one — and yes, we’ll be bringing the board games and coffee morning back very soon! 🎉

✨ MSOE Limerick – January to June Newsletter Recap ✨
The first half of 2026 has been a journey of connection, culture, learning, and sisterhood.

☕ January – Coffee Morning with Zita Mahmood • Muslim Counsellor
A reflective and nurturing session led by Zita Mahmood on the importance of me time, enriched with gentle Islamic reminders that grounded us for the year ahead.

🧕 February – World Hijab Day at Istabraq Hall
A wonderful turnout with women trying on hijabs, asking questions, and celebrating identity with pride and curiosity.

🗓️ February 13 – Ramadan Duʿa Board Workshop
A creative and spiritual evening preparing our hearts and intentions for Ramadan.

🎨 February 22 – Pure Limerick Festival
We were delighted to participate and host a henna stall, offering free henna as a form of art that celebrates our culture and brings people together.

🌙 March – Community Iftar at UL Access Campus
A heart‑warming gathering of around 80 women and children sharing food, faith, and unity.
🌸 March 18 – Henna Night at UL Access Campus
A joyful evening filled with Eid vibes, creativity, and community bonding.

🌼 April 10th – Spring Fest
A lively celebration with amazing vendors and a fun cake‑decorating competition that showcased creativity and community spirit.

🤝 April 27th & 28th – Social Cohesion Dialogue
MSOE Limerick was honoured to participate in a dialogue organised by The Wheel Community, giving us the opportunity to represent and voice the needs of our community.

☕ May 12th Coffee Morning with Limerick Mental Health Association — a morning of learning and self‑care with Emilie, joined by our founder Lorraine O’Connor and sister Nora from Dublin.

🎉 Multicultural Fest – 31st May — A vibrant Eid celebration at Wickham Way with stalls from Brazil, Somalia, Palestine, Nigeria, Pakistan, India, Ireland and more. Children enjoyed their multicultural passports, and we were honoured to welcome Cllr. Azad Talukder on behalf of Mayor John Moran.

Two beautiful years of sisterhood in Limerick — and today reminded us exactly why we do what we do. 💛✨

We were absolutely delighted with the turnout and the incredible interest from women eager to volunteer, support our work, and join our growing MSOÉ Limerick family.

Our celebration opened with a heartfelt welcome from our coordinator Sarah, followed by a presentation from our chairperson Shabnam, reflecting on two years of community, creativity, and compassion. We were so proud to share the amazing work our volunteers have done — and even more grateful to have some of them with us today.

From 12–2, we were joined by wonderful guests from UL Access Campus, the Integration Team at Limerick City & County Council, the inspiring North Star team, and many others who continue to champion our mission.

Here’s to two years of impact — and many more to come, InshaAllah. 🌙💐

Today’s neurographic art session was pure calm and connection.
Under the gentle guidance of Attera Nazeer, we explored how neurography helps us rewire our minds, release inner conflicts, and reconnect with resilience.

As a group, we chose the butterfly as our symbol — a reminder of transformation, strength, and the beauty that comes from growth. Each stroke became a pathway, each curve a moment of healing.

The final pieces were nothing short of masterpieces. Every woman created something deeply personal and powerful.

A heartfelt thank you to Attera Nazeer for sharing this beautiful art form with us. We can’t wait to welcome her back for more sessions.
And a big shoutout to UL Access Campus UL Student Affairs Division for providing the perfect space for today’s workshop.

Thank you to everyone who joined our 3 Bridges Walk today — rain, wind and all. Your spirit made it beautiful.
And a special thank you to Sharon Slater Limerick's Life for taking the time to guide us through Limerick’s layered history.

From Irishtown to Englishtown to Newtown Perry, we learned stories hidden in plain sight — buildings, statues, plaques, and corners we pass every day without knowing their past.

We even learned about Limerick’s old cinemas and the lives of Connie Smith and Connie O’Mara, whose names many of us had heard but never truly knew the stories behind.
The tales behind the Treaty Stone and St. Munchin’s Church were especially eye‑opening.

We were so grateful to come back to our office afterwards for a warm drink, some biscuits, and a lovely chat about all the amazing facts we learned today.

A huge shoutout to Sharon for her incredible knowledge and for helping us see our city with new eyes. 💛
