Pope Leo: Take time out of the daily bustle to ‘listen to the melodious voice’ of creation

Pope Leo XIV invited people to take time out from the daily bustle of their lives to listen to “the melodious voice of creation,” through which God speaks, as the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation is observed on Sept. 1.

“On this day, therefore, and in the weeks ahead, let us set aside a few moments to pause from the frenzy of our daily lives in order to savor the profound harmony of which we ourselves are a part.”

Superb image of the Order of Malta members in their prayerful pilgrimage to Knock. God bless their work.

Each year on the last Sunday in August, cadets, members of the ambulance corps, Knights, Dames, and guests head to The Shrine in Knock for the annual pilgrimage. This year we had a big turn out with many travelling from as far away as Cork and Wexford to attend and assist pilgrims. Thanks to all who travelled out with more pictures to follow in the coming days.

Today 31 August we celebrate the Feast of St Aidan of Lindisfarne.
Aidan was an Irish monk from the monastery St.Colmcille had founded on the island of Iona.
King Oswald had invited the monks of Iona to send a mission to help establish Christianity in the north east of England. Aidan arrived with 12 other monks and chose to settle on the island the English had renamed Lindisfarne.
Here Aidan established an Irish-type monastery of wooden buildings: a small church, small, circular dwelling huts, perhaps one larger building for communal purposes and in time, workshops etc as needed. Here the monks lived a life of prayer, study and austerity

Martyrdom of Saint John the Baptist.
Remembering the courageous herald who gave his life in total fidelity to God's truth and moral law.
His witness stands as a powerful reminder that love for truth permits no compromise, even in the face of earthly powers.
Saint John the Baptist went before the Lord not only in his birth and preaching, but also in his sacrificial death for righteousness.
May his intercession grant us the courage to stand unyielding for the truth, speak with holy boldness, and decrease so that Christ may increase in our lives.
