Revenue will host an information session for people over the age of 65 in Limerick on Wednesday, 3 June and again on Thursday, 4 June. The information session will cover a wide range of tax topics including, PAYE, Income Tax, CAT, CGT, LPT as well as presentations from The Law Society of Ireland and The Department of Social Protection. Irish Sign language (ISL) interpreter will be provided. Our aim is to provide information on a range of tax topics which we hope will enable customers to continue to comply with their tax obligations, and to ensure they are aware of any reliefs, exemptions or tax credits they may be entitled to. On a daily basis we deal with a wide variety of queries and requests for assistance from customers aged 65 and over. Based on the queries and requests we receive, we have tailored the content of the event to address the areas of taxation we believe will be of most interest to this customer cohort. At each event, a ‘Questions and Answers’ session is provided for any general queries. Revenue staff are also on hand at each event if a person wishes to discuss any personal matters or to arrange a follow up appointment as needed. *Customers must register in advance of attending by calling 01 6474497 or by emailing [email protected]

Have you come to Ireland, done some English language courses, and now find yourself enrolling in a higher education programme that starts by the end of October 2026?

🤝 There’s a new, short-term Stamp 2 permission that’s being granted until 30 September 2026 while you’re waiting for the course to start. It’s called a ‘bridging permission’, and there are some rules to know about.

If you’ve successfully finished your 3rd English language course, you can qualify for this permission if you’ve:

✅ Enrolled in an approved higher education programme that starts by the end of October 2026
✅ Paid the fees for that programme

👍 You can also get this short-term Stamp 2 permission if you finished your 2nd English language course on or after 1 July 2026

🚫 You can’t apply for this permission if you completed your 2nd English Language course before 1 July 2026.

🔃 You’ll still need to renew your immigration permission before your short-term permission ends on 30 September 2026.

How much can my rent increase each year with the new rental rules? 🏠

As before, your rent can only be increased by up to 2% a year, or by the rate of inflation, whichever is lower. But, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) is now used to measure inflation for all tenancies.

If you start a new tenancy from 1 March 2026, your landlord: 🏠

👉 Can review the rent each year

👉 Can re-set the rent to market rate in certain situations, like if the previous rent was below market value and the previous tenant left by choice

👉 Must tell you and the Residential Tenancies Board how they calculated the new rent, plus extra information, like the rent rates for 3 similar properties in the same area

How long can I stay in my rented home?🏠

When you’ve been renting for 6 months and haven’t got a valid notice of termination:

🏠 You can automatically stay in your rented home for a set amount of time

🏠 Your landlord can only end your tenancy for a limited number of reasons during this time

The rules about how long a tenant can stay in rented accommodation have changed several times.

Different rules apply depending on when you started your tenancy.

This table has information about how long you can stay in your rented home based on when your tenancy started.

Want to complain about a good or service? If you want to make a complaint, here’s what you should do:

1️⃣ Start with an informal approach.

You should talk to the seller first to give them the chance to put things right. 🧑‍🦰

Keep a record of what happens. Note dates, times, who you spoke to, and save any messages or screenshots. 📝

If the issue is still not resolved:

2️⃣ Make a formal complaint

You should put your complaint in writing and explain what has happened so far. Include copies of any supporting documents and:

✅ Describe the product or service, including details like order or booking number
✅ Include your reference or account number
✅ Say when you bought it and when the problem started
✅ Explain your rights (if you can) and how you want it resolved
✅ State what you’ll do next if you’re not satisfied

If you’re still not happy with the response, you can contact an independent consumer protection organisation for advice.
