Donegal Youth Service

Donegal Youth Service Donegal Youth Service is the longest-established indigenous youth organisation in County Donegal.

In 2026, we mark 45 years of supporting young people aged 8–30 through safe spaces, youth voice and meaningful youth work.
1981–2026 | 45 Years of Youth Work Donegal Youth Service is the key youth work agency in Donegal and works to deliver generic and explicit youth work programmes and activities that best meet the needs of young people and the adults who support them. Donegal Youth Service is an

energetic and contemporary youth organisation constantly striving to meet the needs of the ever changing youth population. We are a unique service in that we are locally managed and can respond quickly to local need.

🇪🇺✨ Representing Donegal in Brussels ✨🇪🇺

Recently, young people from Donegal Youth Service and Arranmore Island travelled to Brussels to take part in the ATLIC Legacy Event, joining young people from across the Atlantic Area to celebrate achievements, share experiences, and explore opportunities for future collaboration.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity for our young people to engage with European institutions, exchange ideas with peers from different countries, and ensure that the voices of young people from rural and island communities are heard at a European level.

During their time in Brussels, the group also had the privilege of meeting with Kathleen Funchion and Nina Carberry at the European Parliament. These meetings gave our young people the opportunity to showcase the work carried out through the ATLIC project, discuss the impact of youth participation, and share their hopes and ambitions for the future.

We would like to sincerely thank both MEPs for their time, encouragement, and commitment to listening to young people and supporting youth engagement across Europe.

Experiences like these empower young people to build confidence, develop new skills, and recognise the value of their voices in shaping their communities and beyond.

A fantastic few days filled with learning, new connections, and memories to last a lifetime. 🌍💙

It was a fantastic opportunity for young people to learn more about careers with An Garda Síochána. Many thanks to Jamie and Gráinne for taking the time to share their experiences and answer questions. And of course, the pizza went down a treat! 🍕

🌈 Letterkenny Pride 2026 🌈

What an amazing day at Letterkenny Pride!

The BreakOUT Donegal project was proud to take part in the Pride Parade alongside Donegal Youth Service, celebrating diversity, inclusion, and the strength of our LGBTQ+ community.

It was wonderful to see so many people come together to show their support for equality, acceptance, and belonging. Events like Pride remind us how important it is to create safe and welcoming spaces where young people can be themselves, feel valued, and know they are supported.

A huge thank you to everyone who marched, volunteered, organised, and joined the celebrations. Your energy, positivity, and community spirit made the day truly special.

Together, we continue to build a more inclusive Donegal where every young person can thrive and be proud of who they are. 🏳️‍🌈✨

At the heart of Youth Work For All is the belief that every young person deserves to feel safe, supported and celebrated for who they are. This Pride Month, we reaffirm our commitment to creating spaces where LGBTQ+ young people can connect, belong and thrive.

A great evening at Donegal Youth Service, where young people had the opportunity to learn more about careers with An Garda Síochána, ask questions and gain valuable insights into the recruitment process. 👮‍♀️👮‍♂️✨

Garda Doherty & Garda Kerr paid a visit to the Donegal Youth Service in Letterkenny on Wednesday evening to have a chat with the young people there about life as a member of An Garda Síochána and about the recruitment and training process. Garda Kerr was previously a youth worker with Donegal Youth Service and so he was delighted to return to his old stomping ground for a visit! 🙌

Thank you very much to all at DYS for the warm welcome and thank you to the young people for all of the fantastic questions.👮‍♂️🤝👮‍♀️
