A Multi-Ethnic Library Collection was launched this week at Letterkenny Library 📚

Make sure to call in and explore some of the stories that shaped people's childhood, values, culture or gave them a sense of belonging.

Come and peruse our new Multi - Ethnic Library Collection compiled using suggestions from the public. The project was coordinated by Sibusiso Tshuma (pictured second left) through the DLDC.
The picture here is from our launch of the project at Central Library, Letterkenny - also in the photograph are Librarians Kim Sterritt and Una Mathewson.
The launch also coincided with Refugee Week 15th - 21st June 2026 which has the theme of "Courage".

Today, Donegal Local Development CLG (DLDC) joined colleagues from across the country as the Local Development Companies Network launched its Pre-Budget Submission 2027 in Buswells, Dublin.

Our message to Government is clear: Budget 2027 must match ambition with investment.

Local Development Companies work in every part of Ireland, rural, urban and island communities, supporting people, community groups and social enterprises to tackle poverty, disadvantage, isolation and barriers to opportunity. The submission sets out practical, targeted investment asks to strengthen this work locally and nationally.

We are calling for:
✅ €6.1m increase for SICAP to support work tackling poverty and disadvantage
✅ €10m secured annually for integration supports for new arrivals
✅ €10.2m additional funding for LEADER to support rural enterprise and community projects
✅ €12m investment in Tús/RSS to sustain essential local services
✅ €500k to expand Rural Recreation Officers, supporting tourism, trails and local amenities

We also recommend basing wider Sláintecare Healthy Communities rollout on a strengthened implementation and funding model.

These are focused, deliverable investments that will help communities thrive.

We are asking elected representatives and Government to support this submission and to back the local development work that makes a real difference every day in communities across Ireland.

Donegal Local Development CLG is delighted to present its 2025 Annual Report

The report, launched at Oakfield Park, Raphoe, is a snapshot of the organisation’s work and its ongoing efforts to empower and strengthen communities and individuals.

In 2025, €3.4 million was invested in Donegal through 17 programmes delivering local initiatives based on needs identified by communities, with a further €654,000 approved for projects under the LEADER 2023-2027 Programme.

Key highlights from the Annual Report 2025 include:

▪️422 people supported into full-time, part-time and self-employment

▪️2,421 people supported in accessing accredited training, workshops and soft skills training

▪️295 people supported into work placement through a scheme (Tús, RSS, CE)

▪️DLDC supported the Donegal Food Response Network to deliver 100,672 food packages to 625 families and 289 individuals

▪️452 homeowners supported by DLDC’s Defective Concrete Block Community Facilitators

▪️€241,698 in funding secured by community groups/ social enterprises with DLDC support

▪️71 local community groups benefited from capacity building supports

▪️525 volunteers supported

Paul Hannigan, Chairman, DLDC, has acknowledged the work of DLDC staff on the ground. He said: “As Chairman, I am delighted to be part of the ongoing work with communities and individuals. There is a huge amount happening, and DLDC’s commitment is clear, especially among the staff on the ground who are making a fantastic contribution across DLDC’s catchment area.”

Padraic Fingleton, CEO, DLDC said: “I am proud of the progress made across DLDC and the positive difference we continue to make. 2025 was marked by growth, innovation, and strong collaboration as we worked alongside individuals, communities, and partner organisations to address challenges, create opportunities, and improve lives. From supporting people into employment to strengthening community organisations, this work reflects both the range and ambition of what DLDC does every day.”
