Daniel and Majella O’Donnell have raised over €18,000 for Relay for Life after they welcomed over 5,000 people to their home for a very special tea party.

Thousands of people braved the cold and rain to make their way to Meenbanad in West Donegal on Tuesday for the Boil the Kettle fundraiser.

Daniel and Majella were on hand to meet and greet fans while those who travelled were met with a warm cup of tea and buns.

Those attending were encouraged to make a donation to Relay for Life, a charity fundraiser in aid of support services and research for the Irish Cancer Society.

An early figure indicates the event raised in excess of €18,000 with donations still coming in.
