Affordable Purchase Scheme

Great news for anyone hoping to buy their first home in Kilkenny!
Through the Local Authority Affordable Purchase Scheme, new homes are available to buy at a reduced price.

✅ The Council helps by keeping an equity share in your home (you can buy this out later).
✅ Homes are brand new, energy efficient, A-rated houses.
✅ Open to first-time buyers or those who qualify as a fresh start applicant (e.g. separated/divorced and no longer own a home).
✅ The home must be your main residence.

This scheme is designed to bridge the gap between what you can afford with your savings and mortgage, and the full cost of a new home.

Kilkenny County Council will make homes available at a reduced price for eligible applicants who are seeking to purchase a newly built home but need additional funds to bridge the gap between their mortgage and deposit to cover the full price of the home.

👶𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞-𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 (𝐄𝐂𝐂𝐄)

-All children aged 2 yrs 8 months – 5 yrs 6 months get 2 free years of pre-school.
-Covers 3 hours per day, 5 days a week (Sept–June).

💶𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐞 (𝐍𝐂𝐒)

-Universal subsidy: €2.14 per hour (up to 45 hrs/week) for every child.
-Income-based subsidy: Extra help if your household income is below €60k.
-Money goes straight to your childcare provider, so your bill is reduced.

📉 𝐅𝐞𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐩 (𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓)

-Maximum full-time fee will be €295/week.
-After subsidies, parents won’t pay more than about €198/week (often less).

-Every parent gets €140 per child, per month (more for twins/triplets).
