🌍✨ Refugee Week 2026 starts today! 🎉

📅 15–21 June 2026

We are delighted to mark Refugee Week 2026 with our beautifully decorated windows here at Kilkenny Volunteer Centre.

This year’s installation, Courage Blooms, features handmade decorative flowers in a variety of colours, shapes, and sizes. 🌸🌼🌺 These flowers symbolise people who continue to grow despite displacement, loss, uncertainty, and the experience of starting again in a new place.

Courage Blooms celebrates courage in all its forms - the courage to leave, to arrive, to begin again, and to belong. It highlights how communities grow stronger when they are rooted in kindness, creativity, and shared humanity.

If you're passing by, take a moment to stop and enjoy the display as we celebrate the many cultures, experiences, and stories that enrich our community.

There is also a fantastic programme of events taking place throughout the week, with something for everyone to enjoy. Come along, get involved, and celebrate together!

🙌 Volunteers Needed for AKA Fringe Festival 2026 ! ✨🎨

AKA Fringe Festival returns to Kilkenny from 6–16 August 2026, and they are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help bring 11 days of creativity, connection, and community to life! 🌟

As a volunteer, you'll support the day-to-day running of festival activities across exhibition and public-facing festival spaces.

🙌 Volunteer tasks may include:
✔️ Welcoming visitors and providing information about festival events
✔️ Answering questions and helping audiences find their way
✔️ Monitoring exhibition spaces
✔️ Distributing festival programmes and promotional materials throughout Kilkenny
✔️ Assisting at the festival information desk
✔️ Supporting festival events and activities
✔️ Proofreading festival text, signage, and printed materials

📍 No previous festival experience is required as training and support will be provided throughout the festival.

🌈 This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in a vibrant arts festival environment, develop communication and teamwork skills, meet artists, audiences, festival organisers, and fellow volunteers, and contribute to one of Kilkenny's most exciting cultural events.

Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? 💚
Do you want to be part of one of the biggest sporting and cultural events in Ireland for children? 🏊‍♀️🏆🤸‍♂️♟️

If yes, then volunteering for the Cairn Community Games National Finals 2026 is perfect for you! 🙌

✨ Two roles are available ✨

🤝 Event Steward & Assistant Volunteers
🔸 Meet & greet
🔸 Registration support
🔸 Spectator and floor area assistance
🔸 Car parking stewarding
🔸 Result runners for Gymnastics, Chess & Draughts, and Quiz events

🏊 Swimming Event Support Volunteers
✔️ Dressing room stewarding
✔️ Poolside assembly support
✔️ Swim lane timekeeping
✔️ Viewing area and entrance/exit stewarding

⏰ Morning shifts will start from 9am for a maximum duration of 5 hours.
⏰ Afternoon shifts will start from around 12pm for a maximum of 5 hours.

🍽️ All Volunteers will get refreshments and food as required at the catering units throughout the weekend.
🎁 All Volunteers will get a goody bag on registration.
📜 After the Event, volunteers can request a certificate/reference for their CV.

Ireland’s fourth Refugee Week takes place from 15–21 June 2026 ✨

This year also marks 75 years since the adoption of the Refugee Convention, affirming that people forced to flee have the right to protection, dignity, and hope 🕊️💚

Refugee Week is a festival where we celebrate compassion and connection, and everyone is welcome 🤝🎉

Refugee Week is a space for self-expression, joy, cultural exchange and storytelling 🎭🎶📖 – celebrating the contributions of people who have sought sanctuary, past and present, while building understanding of the reasons people become displaced and the challenges they face when seeking safety.

📍 Kilkenny is hosting a vibrant celebration of culture, community, and connection as part of Refugee Week on Friday 19th June at 2pm in the Watergate Urban Park.

🎵💃🍲 This special event brings people together through music, dance, and food from around the world, honouring the richness and resilience of refugee communities.

Would you like to be part of something meaningful this summer? ☀️💚

Linguan Valley Solstice Festival is a unique celebration taking place across the beautiful Lingaun Valley region of South Tipperary and South Kilkenny. The festival celebrates the Summer Solstice through music, heritage, creativity, nature, community participation, and cultural events in villages throughout the valley 🌿🎶✨

The festival will run from 14th–21st June across the beautiful Lingaun Valley region, including Kilcash, Windgap, Owning, Piltown, Carrick-on-Suir and more 🙌

Lingaun Valley Tourism is looking for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to help bring this unique celebration to life.

Volunteers will be needed to help support festival events and activities taking place from 19th–21st June 🙌🌿

Volunteer roles may include:
🌟 Welcoming visitors
🎪 Helping with event setup and tidy up
📍 Stewarding and providing directions
📖 Supporting storytelling and community activities
☕ Assisting with hospitality
💬 Helping create a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout the festival
