A weekly session welcoming all musicians, singers, dancers, people who recite poems or recitations...anything that reflects the richness of Irish culture ...or the richness of any other culture! ic and song that was played and sung in our kitchens growing up! Whatever age you are, the kitchen welcomes everyone ..its where we all began and where we all feel comfortable. The Kitchen Session aims to give any singer, musician, poet, dancer, storyteller, or any performer the opportunity to feel at ease, sing a song, or a bit of a song! That's the main thing! So if you haven't been to The Kitchen Session yet, do drop in to JBs some Tuesday around 9 pm and you'll be made very welcome! There are no airs and graces ...just a bit of fun, music, song, poetry, recitation...with the odd Dance thrown in too!! There is also very much a community aspect to The Kitchen Session, where every so often we might have a Raffle and the proceeds go towards a local Community/voluntary Group working in our Kilkenny Communities. The Kitchen Session, through music and song is a gathering place for people in the community, a place to share time, music, stories and song and a place which gives the opportunity to support the wider community through small fund raising efforts. Through the years the Kitchen session had several homes and kitchens - in Matt the Millers � and in Shem’s Bar and huge thanks in particular to Sohail Khan, Ger and Lorraine �for looking after us so well when we had the session for several years at Shem’s on John’s Street and of course to Paddy, Yvonne and all the Leydon �family all three generations -who hosted the session and looked after us so well for many years too . Bringing us up to date in 2021 -Many thanks to JImmy Burke and his great team �for all the fantastic support, hospitality and welcome he gives to the session, our musicians and singers -and for continuing to give The Kitchen Session a home from home in Kilkenny at JB’s Bar ! �
