A planning application for a controversial wind farm which is being planned directly across the River Shannon from the Clonmacnoise monastic site could be lodged by the end of next year.

🚨 UPDATE: BALLINLEE WIND FARM HAS BEEN APPROVED! 🚨
💔 310 submissions. Hundreds of voices. And a decision that has left our community utterly disillusioned.

An Coimisiún Pleanála has granted permission for 12 of the 17 turbines proposed for Ballinlee Wind Farm across our beautiful Bruff, Dromin and Athlacca countryside.

5 turbines have been removed from the northern cluster (T1–T5) due to the collision risk to our treasured Whooper Swans. We welcome their protection. But where is that same precautionary approach when it comes to protecting people in their own homes?

As we begin to read through the 493-page Inspector's Report, we are disturbed by the treatment of concerns raised about public health, children's wellbeing, autism, anxiety and quality of life.

One statement is particularly unsettling:

🚨‼️“for those that are concerned regarding effects or who oppose the development, I accept that phycological stress and/or annoyance may arise.”🚨‼️

⚖️ What has happened to democracy in our planning system? We were encouraged to engage, participate and make submissions. Participation is a right enshrined in EU law. Yet are issues have been dismissed.

🚨 We have evidence that not all submissions were even read by the Inspector. The integrity of the entire process, whether due process was followed and this decision is now under QUESTION.

🔎 We are only beginning to identify the many errors in this decision & are carefully considering our next steps.

But be assured: we will not simply accept this decision.

A map of existing and planned windfarms as of May 2026. With many more announced since. There are currently 300+ windfarms in planning in Ireland including 6 on our doorstep.

Rural Irelands landscape and environment is being bombarded as the prospectors hunt for gold with our taxes and the support of Micheál Martin.

Meanwhile our government, for 2 decades now, has completely refused to regulate for protection of our residents and our environments health.

Well..... not all of Rural Ireland by the looks of it...
