Looking for inspiration for your BlueLightS project?

The 3rd Funding Call supports creative, hands-on school projects that bring Ocean and Water Literacy to life. 🌊

Your project can explore topics such as:
🔹 Marine and freshwater biodiversity
🔹 Pollution and microplastics
🔹 Climate change and water systems
🔹 Sustainable fisheries, aquaculture, or energy
🔹 Active citizenship and awareness campaigns

From citizen science and fieldwork to art, storytelling, and digital projects - what matters is engaging students and connecting learning to real-world challenges.

Projects can run between 2 to 3 months, making them easy to integrate into your school calendar.

A huge thanks to everyone involved in the successful launch of the project where MEP Maria Walsh and students from (Galway – Ireland) launched Ireland's EU project and the Explorers/BlueLights at the Marine Institute - Foras na Mara.

The Camden.education team are delighted to be supported by the (Irish Ocean Literacy Network) as an associated partner, and also working with the Marine Institute - Foras na Mara in the delivery of the Blue Innovative all-school project as part of the Explorers Education Programme.

The projects aim to engage students in marine and climate change initiatives, fostering a new generation of ocean advocates through science investigations, arts and storytelling.

BlueLightS is an project that brings together 16 partners from across Europe to strengthen the skills and competencies of European children and youth to deliver “blue” (river and seas) resilience and sustainability. The project aligns with and contributes to the EU Mission ‘Restore our oceans and water by 2030’.

Brittas Bay Mixed National School, Wicklow, have also recently been awarded funding for the EU BlueLightS Challenge.
