Tenants Strike Back! Yesterday tenants from across the Liberties and beyond met the call of the Oliver Bond residents to stand up against the cruel and cynical rent hikes imposed without consultation or justification by Dublin City Council.

To the rent hikes, the tenants say: no way, we won't pay!

On March 28th, tenants from across the city will stage a citywide protest to demand the council drop the rent hikes at the Garden of Remembrance, 1pm. Be there!

This Saturday, CATU will be supporting a protest called by the residents of Oliver Bond joined with public housing tenants across the Liberties and beyond, to call on Dublin City Council to drop their cynical and outrageous rent increases on tenants struggling in a cost of living crisis in homes long neglected by the council.

Come one, come all to Bridgefoot Park this Saturday at 3pm and show them what tenants think of their cash grab.

Our members were out hitting the doors (and many, many stairwells 🧗🏻💨) of Dolphin House this dark February evening to talk to public housing tenants about Dublin City Council's planned rent hikes.

The response was unequivocal: these hikes are unjustified, unnecessary and must be resisted. Tenants from across Dublin are intent on coming out to fight them. ✊

Start the year as you mean to go on! The CATU Dublin Regional Forum is on from 12pm on Saturday January's 31st.

Join members from CATU branches across the county of Dublin to compare and discuss what our local branches have been up to, elect representatives to our national and regional committees as well as the board of directors, and make a plan for how we organise together in 2026.

All Dublin CATU members are welcome and encouraged to attend!

One last push! We're calling CATU members from branches across the city to convene in Tailors' Hall at 5PM on Saturday December 20th to finalise our plan for fighting the council rent hikes in the new year.

Then at 9PM that same Saturday we're throwing a fundraiser for the union in showcasing the scintillating & , with beverages to be had in between. Don't let the season go unmarked, bígí linn!

On Monday Nov 24th Dublin City executives pushed through a budget measure to hike rents on tenants of public housing, Approved Housing Bodies, HAP and RAS recipients, and pensioners by up to 50%.

This disgraceful robbery will directly increase poverty in the city by €35 million in a cost of living crisis.

The council could very well have funded a proper maintenance budget from levies on big business, collecting existing fines on landlords and developers, taxing tourists, or by seeking proper funding from central government.

Tenants were not consulted on this cash grab, and CATU, the tenants' union, are staging a protest in front of City Hall next Monday, December 1st at 5:30PM. No way, we won't pay!

CATU members from across the Liberties and Rialto were out in force this weekend going door to door talking to public housing tenants about Dublin City Council's disgraceful plans to pick the pockets of struggling tenants while the government is awash with money.

The Liberties says stop the rent hikes! Call your councillors.

All out for the protest at City Hall on Monday 5:15PM.

This Saturday members from branches across Dublin are meeting at Charlemont Resource Centre to plan cross-branch activity. The meeting will be held at 1pm.

It will be preceded at 11am by a workshop on consent by the Dublin R**e Crisis Centre. All members are welcome to attend and asked to fill out a pre-survey in advance - check the Dublin Regional Branch WhatsApp for the link. Looking forward to seeing everyone there, bígí linn!
