This account will no longer be in use as we are delighted to officially announce the launch of The Liberties Community Project—the voluntary legal amalgamation of Robert Emmet CDP and SICCDA.

The launch took place on Thursday 7th November, in the beautiful St. Catherine’s Church on Thomas Street, Dublin 8, marking the culmination of a four-year journey since the merger process began.

It was a joy to celebrate this milestone with founding members of both organisations, local community members, colleagues, funders, and supporters. Many thanks to everyone who joined us to reflect on the rich history of both organisations, discuss local needs and opportunities, and explore strategies to achieve better outcomes for the area.

Here’s to a vibrant future for The Liberties Community Project!

SICCDA (South Inner City Community Development Association) and Robert Emmet Community Development Project have voluntarily legally merged to form The Liberties Community Project!

A conversation that began approximately four years ago draws to a conclusion tomorrow evening with the public launch of the new entity in St. Catherine's Church on Thomas Street.

Many thanks to the current staff and board members of both organisations who have made this happen, to the community that attend our services and who informed this process and to our colleague organisations and funders. This would not have been possible without you and we look forward to working with you to deliver positive results for The Liberties area into the future. This is only the beginning!

Check out our lovely new video that highlights what we do and why we do it. Website to launch tomorrow!

Many thanks to Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine for engaging with FoodCloud on the 'Growers Project' and to FoodCloud for engaging with Robert Emmet CDP / South Inner City Community Development Association (SICCDA) and organisations like ours all around the country.

Delighted to be back providing several hundred kg's of food per week free of charge to community members who need it most across The Liberties.

Also delighted that a project / funding mechanism exists whereby farmers receive a level of payment for 'surplus' produce and thereby have a level of protection from rigid supermarket contracts!

The Reimagine Marshalsea Barracks Project brings together a network of communities in Dublin’s south-west inner city, working to envision a bright future for a building that once stood tall in Dublin 8’s community life and history.

The Community Organisation and Residents Network (CORN), which consists of 46 community organisations, aims to provide an inclusive and active forum for community stakeholders in the area.
In collaboration with Hassett Ducatez Architects, CORN is leading the way to propose a new, community-focused future for the Marshalsea Barracks. This project offers a unique opportunity for the community to be at the heart of its development, ensuring their voices and visions are central to the site's evolution.

The recent felting class was a wild success! The group got creative and crafted some fantastic felt animals, with everything from bears to bunnies coming to life. The level of detail and fine felting skills on display were very impressive!

Letter from The Liberties Community Project CEO Austin Campbell in today's The Irish Times.

Simple solutions to complex issues don't exist and confidently offering the same to large audiences through a trusted publication dangerously influences political action.

This influence is evident when reviewing Dublin City Council Allocation by Electoral Division 2022 -2026 Capital Budget for Sports and Leisure, Parks and Open Spaces, Libraries and Galleries which show €137,326,629 or 46.25% of total budget spent in the North Inner City compared to €1,630,000 or 0.55% of total budget spent in the South West Inner City.

These are the key budget areas which can be considered to enhance the likelihood of a community being happy and well- not additional policing or population- and a differential in spend of c.8,500% between different electoral areas indicates a politicisation of decision making processes that does not bode well for a thriving inner city.
