It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of Gerry McDonagh.
Gerry was a highly respected businessman whose influence extended far beyond his own ventures. Through his business interests and community involvement across many counties, he made a significant contribution to local economies, supported countless businesses, and created opportunities for others throughout his distinguished career.
A passionate advocate for enterprise and community development, Gerry’s vision, leadership, and dedication helped strengthen both businesses and communities alike. His commitment to supporting local enterprise and fostering growth left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of working with him.
As a valued member of Cootehill Chamber of Commerce for many years, Gerry was a tremendous supporter of the Chamber and the wider business community. His wisdom, encouragement, and friendship were greatly appreciated, and his contribution to the Chamber’s work will be fondly remembered.
Beyond his many business achievements, Gerry will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, and willingness to help others. He touched the lives of so many people, and his legacy will live on through the communities, businesses, and individuals he supported over the years.
Gerry’s hospitality and commitment to bringing people together were legendary. He welcomed and entertained people from all walks of life, ensuring that visitors to Cootehill always received a warm welcome. He played a central role in many community events, particularly the annual St. Patrick’s Day celebrations and the Christmas lights switch-on, occasions that brought great enjoyment to residents and visitors alike. Even after finishing his role with the Chamber , Gerry continued to support and participate in these events, reflecting his unwavering dedication to the town and its people.

Gerry’s contribution to business and community life will not be forgotten, and he will be sadly missed by all.
