1. V. ii. I. iii.

The town team is led by people who are active in community life as well as business activities within the town. Our Aim:

Our aim is to improve the experience of living and working in Cootehill. We encourage all members of the community to get involved. Ideally, we would like a broad-based membership that is reflective of both the established and newer communities in the area. We work in partnersh

ip with community groups, residents, services, shops, and businesses to deliver a vision for Cootehill. The town team is supported in these efforts by Cavan County Council and other key agencies. We call on all local residents to get involved and have your say in how your town develops. Please get involved in any of our 4 sub-groups. Tidy Towns
Cootehill Tidy Towns is an enthusiastic group of dedicated local people working together to improve Cootehill for everyone who lives, works and visits our town. Since our inception in 2019, we have worked tirelessly litter picking, maintaining grass verges, planting trees and cultivating planters, hanging baskets and wild flower areas throughout the town. In addition to planning our entry for the 2021 National Tidy Towns Competition, we also secured a lease for the green area behind St. Michael’s Hall. Our vision is to create a vibrant, accessible community garden for residents, visitors, community groups and schools to use and enjoy.

2. Social, Cultural & Community
The Social, Cultural & Community sub-group of Cootehill Town Team secured Leader funding (through its legal entity Croilar na Drumlini CLD) and continues to conduct a large scale community needs analysis that explores the issues and needs of the most vulnerable in our community. This is helping us to identify supports and services that are most vital. We also submitted, in partnership with Cavan County Local Development, an application for funding for a community development project pilot initiative which would aim to develop supports and community initiatives for all of Cootehill with a particular focus on social inclusion and social justice. During Covid-19, the group has been providing supports to vulnerable people of Cootehill through involvement in Cavan County Councils "Community Call" initiative. The work has included delivery of groceries and medication to those most vulnerable in our community; set-up and management a Food Bank Service in the town during the height of the pandemic; and telephone support / befriending scheme to day care centre clients. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our volunteers who have provided a wonderful lifeline and promoted community spirit during such a difficult and challenging time for us all.

3. Accessibility
Cootehill Town Team, Accessibility Sub-group aims to promote accessibility for all with regard to Cootehill town and its environs. We strive to ensure social inclusion for all, including people with disabilities. We work in partnership with Cavan Co Council, local businesses and community organisations to make Cootehill a centre of excellence with regard to accessibility. Our long term goal is to make Cootehill town the most accessible town in County Cavan.

4. Economic Development
The scope and purpose of the Economic subgroup is as follows:
i. Visitor/Customer Footfall – Aim to build greater footfall through ongoing engagement with local businesses, elected representatives, and council officials. Industry – Continue to develop our strengths and adapt to new opportunities. C. Community – Ensure community engagement is at the heart of our economic activities. iv. E. Environment – Respect for our natural resources at all times. We will achieve this by supporting the development of local, county and national policies that sustains small towns and their economic development, with the result that Cootehill can be a hub of civic and economic activity. New members are always welcome and can contact the Cootehill Town Team at [email protected] or message this page.

A huge thank you to the Liffey Meats Programme for once again giving back to local communities and choosing Cootehill as one of the areas to support this year.
The New Line is looking absolutely fantastic after all the hard work carried out today. It is great to see such community spirit and pride in our town.
A special word of thanks to Garth Kivlehan for organising this work for Cootehill and helping to make it happen.
Finally, thank you again to the Liffey Meats Programme for funding and supporting the workers involved in the clean-up. Your continued support for communities like ours is greatly appreciated.
