🎥 Memories of Bygone Days with Peggy Magee

We’re delighted to share the full video of Peggy Magee as she takes us back through her memories of growing up and life in our local area in years gone by.

Peggy shares stories of the people, places and everyday life she remembers, helping us to preserve a little piece of our local history for generations to come. ❤️

This is the first in what we hope will be a series of recordings by Carrickallen Development Association, capturing the memories and stories of people from our locality.

A lovely look back at two recent evenings in Carrickallen 🎶🌿📸

At the beginning of August, we had a fantastic Irish Music Night in Carrickallen Hall, with a great gathering of musicians, singers, storytellers and friends. Thank you to everyone who came along, took part and helped make it such an enjoyable evening. 🎻🎶

Then on Sunday, as part of National Heritage Week, we took a walk through our local area, sharing some of the history, stories and memories connected with the places around us.

Following the walk, we gathered back at the hall for something particularly special, the first in what we hope will be a series of recordings preserving the memories and stories of people from our locality. We were delighted to show our video featuring Peggy Magee, who shared her memories of bygone days and growing up in the area. ❤️

A huge thank you to Peggy for sharing her stories with us, and to everyone who joined us for both events, helped out, provided refreshments, music, stories or simply came along and supported us.

These evenings are a lovely reminder of just how much history, music and community spirit there is to celebrate right here in Carrickallen.

Carrickallen Development Association were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Anna Sexton.

Anna was a true stalwart of local history in our area, with a great knowledge and appreciation of the people, places and stories that make our community what it is. She was also a wonderful supporter of Carrickallen Development Association, always taking a genuine interest in our events, our work and our vision for the future of Carrickallen.

Her encouragement and support meant a great deal to us, and her presence at our events will be greatly missed.

We extend our sincere condolences to Anna’s family, friends and all who knew her at this sad time.
