The Cavan Kayakarun Adventure Race

Whether you are an experienced athlete looking for a serious challenge or a total beginner looking for a bit of 'craic' then you will not want to miss this event. The Cavan Kayakarun is a local community event, and with the generous help of local people, we can guarantee a well marshalled and a safe passage for all the competitors. Alongside that there is a great social attraction with music in Gallonray House, on the Saturday night after the event.

We're delighted to announce that we've joined forces with Last Lap Cafe Catering, who'll be keeping everyone fuelled on race day!

Last Lap Café will be serving up great coffee, tasty treats, and plenty of delicious food to keep the energy flowing all day long.

Be sure to drop by, grab a bite, and soak up the incredible race day atmosphere. We can't wait to welcome competitors, supporters, volunteers, and spectators for a fantastic day of adventure, community, and great food.

The Jazzie Jersey Prize is up for grabs!

Got a jersey that's bold, bright, or a little bit different? We want to see it!

On race day, we'll be picking our favourite standout jersey, with the Jazzie Jersey Prize going to the winner.

Whether it's your club colours, a custom design, or something completely unique, wear it with pride, you might just walk away with the prize!

A Quick Update from the CKR Team.

We've had a few messages asking about the new 16–18 age category, so we just wanted to clear things up.

The only thing that's changed for 2026 is that competitors aged 16–18 can now take part in the Cavan KayakARun (subject to parental consent and the event rules).

There are still only two race options:

CKR Petite (24.5km)

This route is open to everyone who wants to take part. It's a great choice if you're new to adventure racing, prefer a shorter course, or simply want to enjoy the day at your own pace.

🚴 16km Bike
🛶 1.5km Kayak
🚴 5km Bike
🏃 1km Run

CKR Challenge (43.5km)

If you're looking for the full CKR experience, the Challenge route remains exactly as before.

Route:
🏃 4km Run
🚴 16km Bike
🛶 1.5km Kayak
🚴 18km Bike
🏃 4km Run

We hope that clears up any confusion caused by our recent poster.

Thanks to everyone who got in touch to ask, we'd much rather answer the question than have anyone unsure about which event is right for them.
