Thanks to the LDCN for hosting yesterdays pre-budget submission event and to all of the elected representatives who attended. It was a valuable opportunity to highlight the impact and reach of Local Development Companies in supporting communities across rural and urban Ireland. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿค๐ŸŒฑ

We were delighted to see Carrickmacross World Choir perform at the wonderful Create! Festival in Hilton Park, Clones last weekend. ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŽถ

It was a fantastic festival and a great day out for everyone, made possible through the vision and initiative of Audrey Wilson and Creative Monaghan.

Carrickmacross World Choir is a volunteer-led community choir supported by Monaghan Volunteer Centre, bringing people together through music, friendship, and community spirit. The choir is available to perform at community initiatives and events across the county.

Congratulations to everyone involved in making the festival such a success. ๐Ÿ‘โœจ

Today Monaghan Integrated Development CLG attended the launch of the LCDN Pre-Budget Submission 2027 in Buswells, Dublin.

The LCDN message to the Government is clear: Budget 2027 must match ambition with investment.
Local Development Companies work in every part of Ireland, rural, urban and island communities, supporting people, community groups and social enterprises to tackle poverty, disadvantage, isolation and barriers to opportunity. The submission sets out practical, targeted investment asks to strengthen this work locally and nationally.

They are calling for:
โœ… โ‚ฌ6.1m increase for SICAP to support work tackling poverty and disadvantage
โœ… โ‚ฌ10m secured annually for integration supports for new arrivals
โœ… โ‚ฌ10.2m additional funding for LEADER to support rural enterprise and community projects
โœ… โ‚ฌ12m investment in Tรบs/RSS to sustain essential local services
โœ… โ‚ฌ500k to expand Rural Recreation Officers, supporting tourism, trails and local amenities

They also recommend basing wider Slรกintecare Healthy Communities rollout on a strengthened implementation and funding model.

These are focused, deliverable investments that will help communities thrive.
The LCDN are asking elected representatives and Government to support this submission and to back the local development work that makes a real difference every day in communities across Ireland.
