π’ Launch of County Monaghan Health Needs Assessment Report Highlights Need for Dedicated Traveller Primary Care Project π©Ίπ€
A new Health Needs Assessment Report for County Monaghan was officially launched today at St Josephβs, Monaghan, highlighting significant health inequalities experienced by members of the Traveller community and identifying the urgent need for the establishment of a dedicated Primary Care Project for Travellers in the county. ππ₯
The event was hosted by Monaghan Integrated Development, which led the research and consultation process. The project was funded by Genio and involved extensive engagement with Travellers, service providers and community stakeholders. π€π£οΈ
The Steering Committee for the project included MID, HSE, Pavee Point, Monaghan Traveller Movement and Cavan Traveller Movement. Health Questionnaires were completed by project worker Sally Flynn. π
Speakers at the launch included Kilian Cawley, Patricia Gartlan, Tanya Lalor and Chrissie O'Sullivan. π€
The assessment identifies a range of barriers affecting Traveller access to healthcare services and underscores the importance of culturally appropriate, community-led health supports. β€οΈβπ©ΉποΈ
