Around this time every year, Castleblayney Tidy Towns would join Mindszenty and Martin in Mindszenty Park for their annual clean up and planting project.
This year, we kept that tradition going by hosting a bbq for our volunteers, Mindszenty’s family and the residents of Lakeview.
We unveiled a new sign at the entrance to Mindszenty Park and a new bench in memory of Mindszenty was placed by Mindszenty’s neighbours.
A truly lovely community evening in remembrance of our friend Mindszenty.

Thank you to Brian Crafty Owl Productions for creating the new sign , ronniemorganmusic for entertaining us, eamonbyrnesbutchers for the delicious food, castleblayney_scouts for their support and help, McMahons SuperValu Castleblayney for sweet treats and beverages, Castleblayney Library for the loan of the outdoor games and of course, Greg & Monaghan County Council workers in Castleblayney. Thank you to our own fantastic volunteers, Mindszenty’s family and the Lakeview Residents 👏👏

Have you a skill to share, a recipe passed down or a favourite dish that you create. We would love you to share your knowledge with our young people.
If gardening is your thing then we have a project in mind that needs a few extra pairs of hands. Please get in touch if you can join us on Tuesday 9th June.

MAY
A mostly wet May and hard to get everything done that we’d hoped for. However a lot of prep was still going on plus Biodiversity week which had a lot of events in Castleblayney.
Thankyou to all those volunteers who consistently physically help, support and do a lot behind the scenes.
Would you like to get involved and help out? If you see an area or planter that needs weeding, watering or a bit of TLC, please feel free to do it.

PLEASE SUPPORT TIDY TOWNS AND LOVE WHERE YOU LIVE.
This next few weeks will be busy for planting, watering, weeding, preparing for painting, painting, tidying, picking up litter, scraping kerbs and generally keeping the town looking well. Can you help with any of these or do a little tidy up around your home or business? Every little bit helps and is much appreciated.

Entering the TidyTowns competition is very important for our area it shows our town in a positive way, highlighting everything that's good about our community, it brings funding and improvements to our area which we think we can all agree is needed. So everyone’s input would be so welcome please.

The Little Free Library is a great success and seems to be well appreciated. However in recent days, CDs, DVDs and magazines have been placed in it. The library is for books only and not big enough to sustain other items so we would appreciate if you didn’t place anything else in it. Also there have been occasions when large or too many books have been placed in it so that it won’t close properly. This can cause damage to books if it rains.
We appreciate the care from the majority of people and hope you enjoy this asset.
