Building skills, making friends, and embracing adventure—one campfire at a time! 🏕️

🧩 It can be puzzling how so much scouting can happen in one short month!

October in Fingal Scout County was packed with challenges, achievements, new skills and plenty of adventure! Here’s a look back at what we got up to 👇

🏆 John Galvin Pioneering Competition returned for the first time since 2011! A huge thank you to Lusk for hosting, and congratulations to Rush on winning the Incorporation of the Theme and Overall Winner awards, and to Brackenstown for taking home the PL Award! 👏

🥾Leinster MPC saw Bremore, Lusk and Brackenstown take on the challenge and come back with another part of the diamond! Well done to everyone involved! 💪

🪢Cub Scouts gathered on Sunday to practise their skills, learn some new ones and keep building on their adventure skills.

🌍 World Scout Jamboree preparations continued as some of our Scouts and Scouters spent the weekend with the Irish contingent in Portlick, getting ready for Poland! 🇵🇱

🗂️Scouting Ireland AGM also took place, with a number of our members attending and helping shape the future of Scouting.

The answer to this puzzle is an incredible amount of commitment and dedication to scouting in our youth members and leaders!

THE REVIEWS ARE IN! ⭐

What a weekend at Fingal County Camp 2026! 🙌

Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Ventures and Scouters from across the county came together a couple of weeks ago for an action-packed camp full of adventure, new friendships and plenty of memories!

From rock climbing, zip-lining, high ropes and Splatmaster to archery and so much more, there was never a dull moment! The afternoon brought everyone together with social bingo, followed by a good old sing-song around the campfire 🎶

And of course, it wouldn’t be camping without a very, very wet Sunday morning! 🌧️

A huge congratulations to everyone who took part and helped make the weekend such a success! 👏 A special shout-out to Holywell for joining us for their very first camp, and to Ballyboughal, whose new Scout section joined us for the occasion!

Rain or shine, that’s what Scouting is all about! ⚜️

At the Fingal County Cub Challenge, young Agents of Fingal took on a full field mission—completing a site build, tackling an adventure skills interactive quiz, updating mission log books, and proving their survival know-how with a test meal, campfire, and site breakfast.

With “double agents” hidden among the teams, secret tasks were quietly underway throughout the challenge. Some were uncovered at the campfire debrief, while others managed to stay undercover right to the end of the mission.

A weekend of teamwork, mystery, and outdoor skills—case files closed (for now).

Congratulations to all our teams, especially Swords who placed first, Balbriggan in 2nd and Lusk in 3rd. 🏆

What a (sunny) weekend at the Fingal Scout County Shield 🏕️

12 patrols took on the challenge — building incredible sites, tackling bases, serving up impressive test meals, crafting detailed logbooks, performing brilliant campfire skits, showcasing creativity at the trade fair, and packing it all away again 💪

Huge congratulations to all the teams and their dedicated Scouters — the effort, skill, and spirit on display was outstanding 👏

A special bravo to our overall winners who dominated the weekend taking home Campcraft, Bases, Cooking, Engineering, and Campfire Skit 🏆

They’ll be joined at Phoenix 2026 by (2nd place — Logbook & PL Leadership winners) and , recipients of the inaugural Rising Star Award for the most improvement since last year ⭐

More well-earned recognition:
🤝 – Team Spirit Award
🧚 49th/136th Swords – Incorporation of the Theme
⚜️ – Owen Quinn Memorial Development Shield, honouring Owen’s lasting impact on the county

An unforgettable weekend of skill, teamwork, and scouting spirit 💛🖤
