Residents Association Notice
As Chairperson of the Residents Association, I have been informed that a number of different traders have been coming into the community over the past few weeks, offering various services including power washing, gutter cleaning, painting and other work.
We are not saying that these traders are dishonest or that everyone offering these services is doing anything wrong. However, we would ask all residents to please be vigilant and, in particular, to keep an eye out for our elderly and more vulnerable neighbours.
If you see traders calling to an elderly neighbour’s home, please make sure they are okay and, where appropriate and without intruding on their privacy, offer them some support.
We are aware of one situation where work was carried out on a house to a standard that the resident felt did not reflect what they had paid for. This is why we are simply asking everyone to be cautious and to make sure they are comfortable with any work being offered or agreed.
Please remember: you do not have to agree to work on the spot. Take your time, ask questions, get a written price if possible, and speak to a family member, neighbour or friend if you are unsure.
Let’s continue to look out for one another and keep our community safe.
Stay vigilant, stay safe, and look after your neighbours.
Thank you,
Sharon Parker Byrne
Chairperson
New Oak Residents & Community Association.
