Morning folks, here are some highlights from an incredible day yesterday! A huge thank you to all who came, our quality vendors, Mr & Mrs Claus, Ala our facepainter (she was fantastic!!), for joining us and signing books for fans. The turn out was incredible and energy in the room was so lovely! What an amazing community we live in - I’m very grateful ❤️ Rachel x

✨ What a Day at the Ballon Christmas Market! ✨

We honestly cannot believe the footfall today — the support from our community was absolutely incredible. A huge, heartfelt thank you to every single person who made the effort to come along, wander the hall, get their face painted, visit Santa and Mrs Claus, enjoy the treats, and support our almost 40 amazing vendors.

So many of you spent your hard-earned money with the stalls (myself included), and the atmosphere from start to finish was just warm, joyful, and full of Christmas spirit.

A very special thank you to richiekavanagh for dropping down to sign books — it meant so much to so many people who are huge fans. And thank you as well to his son James and grandson CJ for being there today too.

To all our incredible vendors: your displays, your kindness, and your energy helped make today truly magical.

And finally, a big shout-out to Gerry Maher for all of your hard work in the lead-up to the market. Gerry was always on hand to answer questions, help with setup, and keep everything running smoothly. We appreciate you so much.

Today was truly a Christmas market to remember. Thank you, Ballon & a very happy Christmas to you all 🎄❤️

The Ballon Christmas Market is happening tomorrow from 9.30am to 3.30pm in the Ballon Community Centre, and we cannot wait to see everyone there — from our amazing vendors to all the families and friendly faces popping in on the day. ❤️🎄

🍬 Colours, jellies & treats for the kids
☕ Barista coffee just outside the door for the grown-ups

We are so excited to welcome you all to a magical day at the Ballon Community Centre filled with Christmas cheer, local makers, treats and fun for the whole family 🤎🎄

🎬 Kids’ TV Screening:
A cosy showing of The Late Late Toy Show playing in the hall to keep little ones entertained.

🎨 Face Painting:
10:30am – 12:30pm

🎅 Santa & Mrs. Claus:
Santa will arrive at 1:00pm, with Mrs. Claus joining him for photos and festive fun.

☕️ Barista Coffee:
Coffee Cobs will be serving delicious hot drinks right outside the main door.

Hosted by Creative Spark – a lovely hands-on activity for little creatives.

✨ Episode 6 – Siopaglas ✨
Continuing our Heart of Ballon series, today we’re visiting one of the most unique gems in our community — Siopaglas.

Siopaglas is more than a thrift store… it’s a treasure trove. From pre-loved toys and kitchen bits to furniture, books, collectibles, jewellery and the unexpected finds you didn’t even know you needed — this little shop is filled with heart, character, and stories.

What makes Siopaglas truly special is how it brings new life to old pieces while supporting our community in such a meaningful way. Every visit feels like a lucky dip, and every purchase supports something bigger.

It was a joy to chat with the team and shine a light on the impact they make here in Ballon. 💚✨

A personal note:
I want to give a special thank you to Máire and Breda for helping me integrate into the Ballon community all those years ago. Photographing and helping out with Siopaglas through social media was my first real experience of being part of this village, and it genuinely made me feel welcome. Nearly seven years later, that feeling has only grown. Thank you both for opening that door and for being such an important part of our wonderful community. 💚
