Szia Debrecen — mindjárt itt az Irodalom Éjszakája! 📖⭐️Literature Night in Debrecen is right around the corner📖⭐️

— Riikkamari Muhonen, a FinnAgora igazgatója

Finnish writer and playwright E. L. Karhu’s acclaimed debut novel For My Brother comes to Debrecen Literature Night on May 29. A dark, provocative and ironic story about sibling bonds, obsession and growing up — read by Julianna Horváth at the terrace of the Csokonai Forum.

“This book is an interesting and at times disturbing story about a young girl’s secret desires, who spends her whole life observing her admired brother. It may be a little strange and unconventional, but it is definitely worth listening to.”
— Riikkamari Muhonen, Director of FinnAgora

The Friendship Parish Seminar, held on Thursday, 21 May, brought together around forty active parish members from across Hungary.

This year, the event was hosted at the premises of the Hungarian Lutheran Church. Opening remarks were delivered by representatives of the church, as well as by Riikkamari Muhonen, Director of FinnAgora, and Kaisa Leidy, representing the Embassy of Finland in Hungary.

We were delighted to welcome as our Finnish keynote speaker Pekka Huokuna, a long-time friend of Hungary who recently retired from his position as Secretary General of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland.

Thank you to everyone who participated!

Once again, the Finnish Embassy courtyard was filled with lovely visitors last Saturday for one of our favorite events of the year!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for Taste Finland 2026, and to our amazing partners who helped make the day such a success. This year, talented chefs from Åland Yrkesgymnasium served delicious vegetarian pies and traditional Finnish berry treats full of Nordic flavours, while both new and long-time partners brought Nordic and Hungarian goodies for everyone to enjoy. 🫐

A little moody weather never stopped Taste Finland, and after all, what would a Finnish summer celebration be without a rain? The authentic atmosphere was completed by the Finnish sauna, tango lessons, and an architecture workshop, keeping guests entertained throughout the day. 🧖💃

Köszönjük szépen! See you next year ❤️

It is again time for goodbyes at FinnAgora, as today was our finance and administrative coordinator Borbála Buzás’ last day at the office. During her three years at FinnAgora, she has mastered a wide range of superpowers from organizing a Moomin festival to successfully battling the bureaucracy of the Hungarian tax authority. We are sure all those skills will become handy at some point.

Thank you for everything, Bori! You will be missed. ❤️

But at the same time we are sure that the future ahead is bright and full of new adventures, so today was still a happy day celebrating the past years with some team bagels!

Nézzétek meg az idei menüt alább!

🫐🌱🇫🇮 This year, the Taste Finland menu is inspired by some true gems of Finnish food culture: blue cheese, beetroot and wild berries.

Our guest chefs from Åland’s Vocational High School arrived in Budapest yesterday! 🧑‍🍳 Here’s the team behind this year’s Taste Finland menu.

They will prepare beetroot and blue cheese filled pirogs with cole slaw and pickled red onion, followed by a classic Finnish wild berry pudding with cream and oatmeal crisp.

🌿 Vegan and gluten-free alternatives are available for both the main course and dessert.

☀️ The dishes are served in easy picnic-style portions, perfect for enjoying the (hopefully) sunny embassy courtyard atmosphere.

Take a look at this year’s menu below!

Yesterday we celebrated in the spirit of Europe Day at Szabadság tér together with other European cultural institutes and Budapest based NGOs! ☀️🇪🇺

At the FinnAgora stand, visitors joined discussions about Finland once again being named the happiest country in the world, spun the Finnish wheel of happiness (fortune wheel), and tested their skills in a Finnish Hungarian word game quiz. And of course, the Moomins were there spreading joy throughout the day.

Budapest weather joined the celebrations too, treating us to warm sunshine and summer like heat. The high temperatures didn’t seem to bother the participants of the running competition, and many enthusiastic runners, along with other visitors, stopped by our stand for temporary tattoos after the race! 🏃
