Our CCB CEMSies had three fantastic skills seminars with the MOL Group, the first one focussing on Influencing with Data.
The first seminar, which consisted of two sessions, focused on data analysis, particularly on data visualization and how to apply it effectively. Many interesting theoretical elements were discussed with respect to the structure and quality aspects of a data gathering, cleaning and analysis process, smart data visualation considerating human cognitive biases has been shared.
Our CEMSies explored the role of data in data-driven decision-making. Some key insights from our students include always considering what kinds of data you have and how you can match it with the business questions that arise. Also, when making decisions, the charts should always be engineered in a way that a person can intuitively know what it tries to show under 10 seconds.
CCB CEMSies had the opportunity to put their knowledge into practice through a case example, which was presented during the second session. Building upon the knowledge learned, they had a week to work on a dataset answering four predefined questions utilizing effective data visualiations and in PowerPoint. For the presentations, they also received individual constructive and valuable feedback. This hands-on experience, combined with the feedback, made the learning process especially insightful.
