We are delighted to announce that, following the Planes to Trains ride, our 101 year old club President and York Normandy Veteran, Ken Cooke has very kindly donated £500 to the Magnolia Cancer Centre at York Hospital.
Additionally, one of the Church Wardens at St Lawrence Church in York has kindly made a donation of £100.
We are extremely grateful to them both for supporting this vital facility that is close to many of hearts.

HONORARY FREEDOM OF THE CITY OF YORK
"Amongst the formal ritual pomp and ceremony of the extraordinary meeting of the council this moment between Ken and his sister captured what it meant to them as a family for him to be recognised for his service both during the war in the Green Howards and the HLI and today as the last surviving member of The York Normandy Veterans, who have done so much good locally for decades.
Ken's first hand incredible experiences of and were explored in our award winning play Bomb Happy and we were honoured to be invited to this special occasion. Congratulations to a wonderful man."
