Nature group

We will be out with our gardening team on Thursday morning 24 September from 10.00 am until around 1.00 pm. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join us, for the whole session or for as much time as you can spare. Depending on the weather and ground conditions, we'll either be tidying up the wildflower areas and sowing more wildflower seeds, or maybe start planting some early spring flowering bulbs like daffodils and crocus....

Update on the Derwenthorpe Community Interest Company (DCIC).

We have had three successful applications for funds. The first is for top soil for the community garden, the second is to buy some books for the book exchange and the third is to put on three art classes in the SSC aimed at three different audiences There will be some publicity about these classes once they have been organised. Derwenthorpe Community Interest Company update

Here’s an update on the Derwenthorpe Community Interest Company (DCIC). We now have more than £22,000 that can be used to benefit the community. Do you have something that you always wanted to organise but didn’t have funds? We can help! All you need to apply is that you must be a resident of Derwenthorpe. We will fund events or activities no matter how small or large, or help fund that community project you’ve always wanted to get going....

Nature group and St Nicks

St Nicks will be on St Aelreds meadow on Friday morning from 9.30 am on 31 July, continuing to scythe. If you want to have a go at scything, this is your chance to learn! Everyone is welcome to come along and help, and there'll be raking and rolling to do as well. Come along to the meadow anytime during the morning if you want to join in. We'll be out with our gardening team on Thursday 28 May, if anyone wants to join us. The plan is to help Matt and the team to reinstate tree rings and topping up with woodchip mulch, and some light pruning and crown lifting of any trees that need it.
