๐Ÿ  TEENS HANGOUT IS MOVING INDOORS!

Weโ€™ve had a fantastic summer so far meeting together in the park, enjoying games, building friendships and creating a space where young people can simply be themselves.

Although weโ€™re still enjoying the summer months, many of the young people have told us theyโ€™d love a regular indoor space where they can relax, have fun and spend time with friends. Having an indoor venue also means we can meet consistently, whatever the weather decides to do!

Weโ€™re delighted to say that from next Tuesday, Teens Hangout will be meeting at Horrabridge Youth Club.

A huge thank you to Janet and the Horrabridge Youth Club Trustees for making the venue available and supporting what weโ€™re doing for local young people.

Teens Hangout is a drop-in session, so young people are welcome to come for the whole evening or just part of it.

There will be:
๐ŸŒญ Food
๐ŸŽต Music
๐ŸŽฒ Games
๐Ÿ“ Table Tennis
๐Ÿ˜Š Space to relax and hang out with friends

Until now, Teens Hangout has been completely free. From this week there will be a small charge of ยฃ1 per young person. This contribution will help provide food and refreshments, support the running of the group, and enable us to add new games, activities and resources that will help make the space even more welcoming and inspiring for our young people.

๐Ÿ’œ You Are Welcome ๐Ÿ’œ

Living with bereavement can feel lonely at times. Whether your loss is recent or many years ago, there are moments when it helps to be with others who understand.

Our Community Grief Group offers a warm, welcoming space where you can remember a loved one, share stories, talk about life as it is now, or simply sit and listen. There is no pressure, no expectations, and no need to have the right words.

Gather around the table with a cup of tea or coffee, homemade cake, cheese and biscuits, and spend time with people who will see you, listen to you, and welcome you just as you are.

The door is open to anyone who is carrying the weight of loss and would value friendship, conversation, or simply the company of others.

๐Ÿ’œ Grief Group is meeting this evening at Horrabridge Village Hall from 6.30pmโ€“8.30pm.

Our group meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month, and everyone is welcome.

Come as you are. A warm welcome awaits. ๐Ÿ’œ

Many people know Ali as the Church Pioneer here in Horrabridge, but did you know that her involvement with Summer Family Camp goes back much further than that?

The camp originally started in Brentor through the vision and hard work of Sally and Christopher Pancheri. Back then, Ali would help out while her children attended camp alongside their grandmother, Viv.

Over the years, the baton has gradually been passed on, and today weโ€™re continuing to build on the wonderful foundations that Sally and Christopher laid. โค๏ธ

Each August, families gather on our own beautiful field near Dartmouth for a week of adventure, friendship and community. Children enjoy the freedom of running and playing outdoors, making friends and creating memories that last a lifetime.

Activities include:

โ›บ Camping and campfires
๐ŸŒŠ Beach trips
๐Ÿšฃ Kayaking
๐ŸŽข Woodlands Theme Park
โšฝ Evening games and sports
๐ŸŽฒ Family Beetle Drive
๐ŸŠ Visit to the outdoor pool
๐ŸŽจ Crafts and activities
๐Ÿ‘ง Morning Kidsโ€™ Clubs
๐Ÿšถ Trips to Dartmouth
๐Ÿ˜Š Time to relax, connect and enjoy camp life together

Weโ€™re delighted that many of our campers come from Horrabridge and the surrounding area, and weโ€™re excited to be welcoming new families again this year.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ Summer Family Camp is designed for families and household groups who want to enjoy a safe, supportive and fun week together.

There are still a few spaces available if youโ€™d like to join us in August 2026. As this is a community-based family camp, all guests need to be known to someone already attending camp. This helps us maintain the welcoming family atmosphere and safeguarding standards that make camp such a special place.

๐ŸŒฑ What started as a small seed in Brentor has grown into something truly special, and weโ€™re so grateful to everyone who has been part of the journey.

๐Ÿ“ฉ If youโ€™d like to know more or reserve one of the remaining spaces, please get in touch with Ali.

โ“ What safe spaces did you enjoy hanging out in when you were a teenager?

๐ŸŒŸ Teens Hangout Update ๐ŸŒŸ

What a brilliant evening at Teens Hangout tonight!

Johnny and Ali spent the evening in the park with between 20 and 22 young people who gathered to hang out together. We also had a lovely little influx of Year 6s who came over to join in. They were so polite, even asking whether the marshmallows and chocolate biscuits cost anything! They were delighted when they discovered the treats were free. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Throughout the evening, young people were catching up with friends, chatting about their day, playing football, riding bikes, enjoying the park equipment, and simply spending time together. Some had fidget toys, others joined games, and several local children wandered over and engaged with us too.

What struck us most was seeing so many young people enjoying a safe space where they could simply be themselves. Whether chatting in small groups, kicking a football around, riding bikes, or relaxing with friends, there was a real sense of community.

One thing weโ€™ve heard loud and clear from the young people is that theyโ€™d love a regular weekly place to meet and hang out. Weโ€™re going to start exploring what might be possible, so watch this space!

Thank you to everyone who supports and encourages our young people. Itโ€™s a joy to see friendships growing and young people finding a place where they belong. โค๏ธ

๐Ÿงฑโœจ More Than Just Bricks โœจ๐Ÿงฑ

At first glance, this might look like a table covered in Duplo creations.

But week after week, we get the privilege of seeing so much more. โค๏ธ

We see imagination taking shape. ๐Ÿ’ก We see problem-solving in action. We see children testing ideas, adapting plans, and discovering what works. We see confidence growing one brick at a time. ๐ŸŒฑ

Most of all, we see children being children.

Research tells us that play is one of the most important ways young brains develop. Through creative play, children build language, communication, teamwork, resilience, spatial awareness, and critical thinking skills. When they create together, they learn to share ideas, negotiate, collaborate, and celebrate one anotherโ€™s successes. ๐Ÿค

What looks like a tower, a house, a vehicle, or a made-up world is actually a brain hard at work. ๐Ÿง โœจ

This entire table was created by a group of our Reception children who simply love building together. There were no instructions, no right answers, and no limits beyond their own imaginations. ๐Ÿš€

In a world that can sometimes feel rushed and structured, there is something wonderfully important about giving children the freedom to explore, create, invent, and dream. ๐ŸŒˆ

So today we wanted to share not just their Duplo creations, but a glimpse of the creativity, friendship, curiosity, and joy that helped build them.

๐Ÿซ Our Lego Club runs at Horrabridge Primary School every Wednesday during term time. We spend time with the children at lunchtime and then again in our after-school club, creating spaces where imagination can flourish and friendships can grow.

A huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers, Mike, Julie, Ira and Layla, whose encouragement, patience and enthusiasm help make it all possible. โค๏ธ

Because these arenโ€™t just bricks on a table.

Theyโ€™re ideas, stories, teamwork, imagination, and young minds learning how to shape the world around them. โœจ๐Ÿงฑโค๏ธ
